BBC confirms long-awaited return news about its breakout hit crime drama

The BBC has officially renewed This City Is Ours for a second season.

The initial season, consisting of eight episodes, debuted completely on BBC iPlayer in March and will end its weekly broadcast on BBC One tonight. This season has been well-received by both critics and viewers, earning a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes and attracting the highest ratings for a new BBC drama this year with its first episode.

Due to enthusiastic fan requests for additional episodes, the BBC has granted their wish and greenlit another season of This City Is Ours.

The story “This City is Ours” revolves around the romantic relationship that blossoms between Michael, played by James Nelson-Joyce, and Diana, portrayed by Hannah Onslow. This romance takes place as Michael’s criminal enterprise starts to disintegrate.

Over a prolonged period, Michael, along with his companion Ronnie (portrayed by Sean Bean), have been effectively smuggling cocaine into the City and beyond. Leveraging his tight-knit connections within the Marbella criminal network, they’ve reigned supreme. However, when a shipment mysteriously disappears, Michael senses that their reign is under threat.

In addition, the show features Laura Aikman, Julie Graham, Kevin Harvey, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Mike Noble, Bobby Schofield, Darci Shaw, and Stephen Walters as part of its main cast.
