Laura Linney, known for her role in Love Actually, and Rhys Ifans, who starred in House Of The Dragon, are joining forces for a new dramatic film.
This 90-minute film tells the heartwarming story of Tony and Emma, who connect through their shared passions for dance and comedy, as well as their experiences with Parkinson’s disease. The cast also includes Monica Dolan, known for her role in Mr Bates Vs The Post Office, and Rory Kinnear from The Diplomat.
The story unfolds in North Norfolk, where Ifans plays Tony Evans, a vice principal at a primary school. He meets Emma, a single mother and pianist, portrayed by Linney, in an unexpected way. On that same morning, both Tony and Emma receive the life-changing news that they have Parkinson’s disease.
What to Read Next
So, a few years back, in 2011 to be exact, I found out I had Parkinson’s. I was 58 at the time. I’m Paul Mayhew-Archer, and I’m actually going to be in a BBC show about it too.
Parkinson’s is a condition I’ll always have, and it’s making everyday things like walking, talking, and even smiling harder. Despite the challenges, it’s also opened doors to experiences I wouldn’t trade for anything.

One of the best things that’s come from this is the opportunity to collaborate with the incredibly talented director John Madden and a fantastic cast to share this story. So, in a way, I’m thankful for my Parkinson’s. While it causes my hands to shake, my speech to be unclear, and makes walking difficult, I really can’t complain.
Further cast is to be announced.
Hilary Bevan Jones of Hilltop Screen shared that Paul’s script was deeply moving, making her laugh, cry, and reflect on life’s experiences.

I’m hoping this movie resonates with audiences, and I’m really excited that the incredibly talented John Madden assembled such a wonderful group of actors. Rhys and Laura are going to portray Tony and Emma in a way that I think will deeply move viewers.
Parkinson’s disease is a gradually worsening condition that affects the nervous system, leading to symptoms like shaking, slow movement, and stiff muscles. In the UK, approximately 166,000 people live with Parkinson’s, and someone receives a diagnosis roughly every 20 minutes.
