BBC Breakfast fans rage ‘I’m going back to bed!’ as show is cut short and downgraded to smaller channel

As a dedicated BBC Breakfast viewer, I was absolutely gutted when I tuned in to my beloved morning show only to find it had been cut short and downgraded to BBC Two. I’ve been relying on BBC Breakfast to start my day for years now, and the thought of missing out on even an hour of my morning routine left me feeling disoriented and frustrated.

On Mondays, BBC Breakfast viewers expressed their anger after the program was prematurely ended and shifted to a less prominent channel during the morning broadcast.

For viewers who tuned in early, the schedule change resulted in disappointment and frustration: “I might as well go back to sleep,” they grumbled, finding that their favorite program was missing.

As a long-time viewer of morning shows, I can tell you that my routine is set in stone – I wake up with my favorite program every day without fail. But this week, things are going to be a little different. The regular time slot for my beloved morning show will experience a slight adjustment to make room for the coverage of an event that I’ve been eagerly anticipating: the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

BBC Breakfast airs throughout the week normally between 6am and 9:30am.

Every Monday morning, the program began as scheduled at 6 am. However, it shifted over to BBC Two for an hour starting at 8 am.

On July 30 and 31, viewers can turn on their TVs at 6am to watch the morning program for 45 minutes. After that, the broadcast will move to BBC Two until 9am.

On Saturdays, some displeased viewers expressed their anger after the morning breakfast program suddenly ended prematurely to broadcast the Olympics instead.

Furious fans shared their frustration on X, with some threatening to boycott the show overall.

Some comments read: ‘Olympics, I switched it off and went to bed #bbcbreakfast’,

‘@BBCNews you’ve cut #bbcbreakfast short! Can’t the Olympics wait till 9? Or put it on News24?’,

‘#bbcbreakfast I might as well do my big shop at 8:00am.. #OlympicGames.’

Two other major programs, aside from the popular morning show, have likewise been impacted by the Olympics.

In the recent programming update, Bosses have taken Bargain Hunt and Homes Under the Hammer off the airwaves, much to the disappointment of their devoted fans.

As a longtime television enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment when my beloved fan favorite shows are taken off the air suddenly. But fear not, fellow fans! Though our cherished programs may not be gracing our screens on their usual network for the moment, they haven’t been cancelled entirely. Instead, they’ll find a temporary new home on BBC Two during the coming week. This news might not alleviate the initial shock completely, but it does bring with it a glimmer of hope that we’ll get to enjoy these shows for a little while longer. So, let us embrace this change and tune in to BBC Two to keep our favorite series alive, even if just for a brief moment.

I’ve been keeping up with the recent turmoil in television scheduling, and unfortunately, The One Show has disappeared from our screens earlier this month.

The famed programme will be off air for several weeks and will return on August 12th.

During the summer Olympics, hosts Alex Jones, Roman Kemp, Jermaine Jenas, and Ronan Keating will have a brief vacation from their regular duties.

Last week, I had the pleasure of co-hosting our last show alongside Alex, and we were thrilled to welcome the amazing Katy Perry as our special guest. She graced us with her presence to discuss her latest musical offerings.

Towards the close of the episode, Roman expressed his gratitude to Katy Perry and encouraged viewers: “Appreciate the Olympics; I’ll be back on the 12th of August!”
