BBC announces Cardiff-set thriller from Fool Me Once producers

As a seasoned viewer of gripping dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming BBC series, “The Guest.” With its stellar cast and intriguing plotline, this show promises to be a rollercoaster ride that will keep me on the edge of my seat. The dynamic between Eve Myles’ character, Fran, and Gabrielle Creevy’s Ria is shaping up to be nothing short of electrifying.

The BBC has ordered a fresh, suspenseful TV show called “The Guest“, which is being developed by the same team behind the popular Netflix production known as “Fool Me Once“.

As a gamer immersed in the digital world, let me take you on a journey through the vibrant cityscape of Cardiff. In this captivating four-part drama, I find myself stepping into the shoes of Eve Myles, renowned from ‘Hijack’, and Gabrielle Creevy, known for her stellar performance in ‘Three Women’. Here, we follow the lives of Fran, a thriving business owner, and her dedicated employee Ria.

The story revolves around the complex dynamic between Fran and Ria, as Ria is captivated by her boss’s self-confidence and charm. While Fran tries to guide Ria towards taking charge of her own life, their relationship takes a risky turn when Fran’s advice inadvertently sets off an unforeseen chain of events. The two women find themselves embroiled in a perilous game of cat-and-mouse as a result.

The ensemble is completed by Sion Daniel Young from Slow Horses, Bethan Mary-James known for Death Valley, Julian Lewis Jones who plays a role in House of the Dragon, and Clive Russell, familiar from Game of Thrones. Additionally, Emun Elliott, Joseph Ollman, and Catherine Ayers are among the stars as well.

The series titled “The Guest” was penned, developed, and overseen by Matthew Barry, a writer whose portfolio encompasses the Welsh Viagra drama “Men Up” and the popular HBO show “Industry”. This production is a collaboration with BBC Cymru Wales, and it receives financial support from Quay Street Productions, a company known for productions such as “Fool Me Once” and “Nolly”, among others.

Barry expressed immense enthusiasm in a statement about collaborating once more with Nicola, Davina, and everyone at Quay Street Productions and the BBC to breathe life into the series titled “The Guest“.

Beyond providing a heart-pounding adventure, this work also delves deeply into issues of social class, upward mobility, and the widening gap between the affluent and less fortunate members within our society.
