BBC adds second season of “impressive” Australian crime drama

Season 2 of Australian crime drama Scrublands is now available to stream in the UK.

In the continuation titled “Scrublands: Silver,” the second chapter unfolds with journalist Martin Scarsden, played once more by Luke Arnold as in the previous season. This fresh installment has recently been made accessible on BBC iPlayer, allowing viewers to stream all four episodes immediately.

Following their discovery of the shocking truth about the murder that stirred the peace in Riversend, Martin and his partner Mandy Bond (played by Bella Heathcote), have returned to Martin’s hometown, Port Silver.

The situation grows unsettlingly strange when Martin’s closest companion, Jasper Speight, is discovered deceased under suspicious circumstances, with Mandy emerging as the main suspect in the ensuing murder probe.

In addition to Arnold and Heathcote making their comeback for season 2, the series Silver also brings back original cast members Sarah Roberts as Beth Ramachandran and Toby Truslove as Doug Monkton.

In the latest addition to the cast, we have Hamish Michael portraying Jasper, Debra Lawrance taking on Denise Speight, Luke Caroll stepping into the role of Scotty Waaliti, David Roberts as Vern Jones, Luke Pegler as Nick Poulos, and Joel Jackson assuming the character of Garth McGrath.

In the first season, the storyline follows Chris Hammer’s initial novel, sharing the same title. On the other hand, season 2 was developed as an adaption from Chris Hammer’s 2019 book titled “Silver.

On IMDb, viewers have hailed the first season as “impressive” and praised its strong hook.

One viewer commented, “This short series was truly excellent! It wasn’t too long and didn’t rush things, striking a perfect balance. The initial scenes were captivating, and the subsequent twists kept me hooked.

As a devoted admirer myself, I’d describe the series as offering a captivating, gradual unfolding of plot that keeps me hooked – much like a slow-burn drama. Yet, another fellow book enthusiast voiced their discontent with season 2, expressing disappointment in the narrative progression.

They suggested, “If you haven’t read ‘Silver’, then I recommend watching the show. But if you have already read it, try finding another program to watch.

Scrublands season 1 and Scrublands: Silver are streaming on BBC iPlayer.
