As a gamer with a heart for anime and a nostalgic soul, I can hardly contain my excitement about the BBC bringing “One Piece” to our screens! Growing up with this epic series, I’ve witnessed Luffy and his Straw Hat Crew navigate through countless adventures, and now, UK audiences will get the chance to join in on the fun.
The BBC has announced that the anime series One Piece will be coming to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
Excitedly speaking, I can hardly contain my enthusiasm as a die-hard fan! This year, the BBC is graciously bestowing upon us, here in the UK, an incredible ten sagas from Eiichiro Oda’s timeless anime, exclusively on their platform, following its triumphant live-action adaptation on Netflix.
Beginning September 1st, the initial three sagas (consisting of more than 200 episodes from East Blue, Alabasta, and Skypiea) will be made accessible on iPlayer. By the end of the year, all 1,085 episodes will be available for viewing on this platform.
Fiona Campbell, BBC Three and iPlayer Controller of Youth Audiences, stated that it’s an extremely thrilling step to introduce the One Piece series to viewers in the UK within the next few months. “The series is renowned for its compelling narratives, memorable characters, and massive global fanbase, transforming it into a cultural sensation,” she continued. “We can’t wait to see how fans will react to the vast collection of English episodes that will be exclusively available on iPlayer.”
The entire collection of story arcs from the anime series “One Piece” that will be available on iPlayer consists of East Blue, Alabasta, Skypiea (Sky Island), Water Seven, Thriller Bark, Summit War, Fishman Island, Dressrosa, Whole Cake Island, and Land of Wano.
The initial show made its debut in 1999, earning recognition as a significant anime among many others throughout history.
As the live-action series prepares for its second season’s production, “Bridgerton” actress Charithra Chandran has been added to the cast as Miss Wednesday.
For the latter part of 2023, the live-action adaptation of “One Piece” on Netflix emerged as their most-watched original series. Iñaki Godoy portrays Monkey D. Luffy, while Emily Rudd takes on the role of Nami. In the second season, Katey Sagal from “Sons of Anarchy” is expected to join the cast, playing the renowned character Dr. Kureha.
One Piece season one is streaming now on Netflix.
