Baywatch’s disgraced child star Jeremy Jackson says his crystal meth addiction caused him to ‘spiral down’: ‘My life slipped through my hands’
As I delve into the tumultuous life of Jeremy Jackson, formerly known as Hobie from Baywatch, I can’t help but feel a mix of empathy and astonishment. This man has certainly had a rollercoaster ride, from his instant connection with David Hasselhoff to his peculiar habit of sniffing dirty swimsuits (talk about method acting!).
Baywatch’s disgraced star Jeremy Jackson revealed that his addiction caused him to ‘spiral‘ down.
The actor who portrayed Mitch Buchannon’s son Hobie on the show between the ages of 10 and 19 (and is now 43) participated in the recent Hulu documentary titled “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun.”
At a certain moment, he recollected an exchange with his on-screen father: “David asked me, ‘Aren’t you smoking something like marijuana?’ And in my mind, I was taken aback, thinking, ‘Wow, do they think I’m smoking pot?’ I could never reveal the truth to them. What would they think of me?”
If you’ve gone without sleep for five days and have been using crystal meth, hearing someone ask you, “Hey, are you alright?”, could feel like one of the most uncomfortable or distressing things they could say.
The actor admitted that he was definitely losing control and sliding into a difficult situation. He also disclosed an unpleasant incident involving the swimsuits of his female colleagues, and expressed that his life seemed to be slipping away from him as quickly as sand runs through one’s fingers.
He also said he’s in ‘remission’ today, in an interview with People.
When someone asks, “Am I in a good place?” they are essentially inquiring if they are still sober. It’s important to note that using ‘good’ and ‘bad’ can be misleading when discussing drug addiction and alcoholism, as these issues are primarily mental health concerns rather than questions of morality, personal strength, or character.
“Indeed, I’m currently free from the persistent, terminal illness that once affected me. Yes, I am.”
The actor also stated that addiction had ‘tangled me all up in knots.’
It’s such a relief when you manage to unravel a knot at last. With that done, the past is behind me, leaving me content today.
When questioned about his involvement in the documentary that explored challenging parts of his history, he conveyed appreciation towards those who contributed to the project.
‘My life is an open book anyway. I always say we are only as sick as our secrets.’
However, my motivation was centered on benefiting others. For me, there was no doubt that I wanted to be part of the vision and passion held by producers Matt Felker and Nicole Eggert.
Jackson also shared that he and Hasselhoff have remained close.
He mentioned to People that Ole DH and Hasselhoff continue to chat frequently and spend time in various places.
In that documentary, I acknowledge the immediate bond we shared – it was palpable right from the moment Michael Jackson auditioned for the role of my on-screen son.
Hasselhoff recounted, “I stood up for him,” speaking about Jackson, who found himself in competition with the emerging talent, Leonardo DiCaprio, for that particular role.
Following Jeremy’s startling admission that he had tampered with the swimsuits of his female co-stars, this revelation came to light.
He admitted he would smell his co-stars’ dirty swimsuits after a day of filming.
Jackson admitted that he often visited the trailers of his female co-stars, such as Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, and Nicole Eggert, once they had finished for the day, and would sometimes take their soiled swimsuits. (This sentence is intended to preserve the original meaning while making it more palatable and easier to understand.)
Let’s put it this way: I caught a whiff of every single actor on Baywatch. Without a doubt, Nicole [Eggert] stood out the most. There was an incredibly private encounter between us that she was unaware of.
Later on, producers informed Summer Quinn’s co-star Björk Eggert, aged 52, who is currently dealing with stage 2 breast cancer – to which she replied: ‘Jeremy was someone I knew quite well, and his actions in this situation don’t surprise me in the least.’
On Monday in Los Angeles, Jackson showed up uncommonly for a public event at the red carpet premiere of the Baywatch documentary.
2017 marked the start of his imprisonment, which followed a plea bargain stemming from accusations that he had stabbed a woman in Los Angeles back in 2015.
In that very year, the previous Baywatch actor was removed from the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother due to an incident where he unintentionally revealed a fellow housemate, Chloe Goodman’s chest.
In the year 2014, he parted ways with his wife, Loni Wilson, who is now living on the streets. Their marriage, which lasted just under two years, came to an end during that time.
Loni has alleged Jeremy attempted to strangle her in a physical altercation when they were drunk.
He later was sentenced to a 270-day jail sentence and five years’ probation.
Upon his release, he became a personal trainer.
Four-part series After Baywatch: Moment In The Sun is set to stream on Hulu on August 28.
Originally airing in 1989, Baywatch chronicled the lives of a team of lifeguards who guarded the beaches of Los Angeles County. The popular 90s show concluded in 2001, after running for 11 seasons and producing more than 250 episodes.
