Baywatch star Nicole Eggert, 53, reveals what she is ‘sick’ of amid cancer battle after mastectomy

In an open discussion this week, Nicole Eggert revealed additional health challenges she’s faced, despite her primary concentration being on her ongoing fight against breast cancer.

During a recent episode of the Pod Meets World podcast on Monday, the 53-year-old ex-star of Baywatch expressed her frustration about needing to undergo numerous surgeries and chemotherapy sessions to combat cancer, as she also struggled with menopause at the same time.

The news is released following her disclosure last week about having a second mastectomy, along with subsequent reconstructive surgery.

Nicole, appearing noticeably slim and weak following her announcement of undergoing surgery, stated that she currently spends a significant amount of time at the doctor’s office, attending numerous check-ups and treatment appointments.

She confessed to Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong that she’s tired of the situation. She shared that she manages to have two good weeks per month, but the remaining two weeks are spent at a treatment center, making it a constant, overwhelming part of her life.

Following Nicole’s statement in a 2000 Boy Meets World episode, where she disclosed her simultaneous experience of menopause, Fishel commented, ‘Even when you feel good, you’re still not at your best.’

‘One hundred percent true,’ Nicole agreed.

Back in June of 2024, Fishel disclosed a profound bond with her visitor when she revealed that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. However, by the following year, she joyfully reported that she was cancer-free and had achieved remission.

She shared that after undergoing chemotherapy, she devoted considerable effort to cleansing her body, but frequently encountered difficulties when seeking comprehensive information from doctors about the process.

She noted that there’s an abundance of knowledge beyond what typical medical practitioners usually provide, with a wealth of information readily available elsewhere.

She mentioned that she’d been exploring methods to maximize the efficacy of her cancer treatments.

She expressed that chemotherapy was incredibly challenging for her, using the analogy of a fierce beast. She mentioned that they administered the strongest treatments possible, and once treatment is initiated, it cannot be repeated, making the initial therapy especially critical. She then questioned how she could ensure its effectiveness not just in the present but also understand the factors that led to her current situation. Although advised not to dwell on the past, she emphasized the importance of understanding what actions or choices may have contributed to her circumstances. She was seeking insights into personal and daily life decisions that would help prevent a future recurrence of this challenging experience.

The actress further clarified that prior to undergoing her mastectomy procedures, she needed to go through chemotherapy as the cancer was quite advanced.

Earlier, she disclosed that she underwent a solitary mastectomy initially, to expedite her return to chemotherapy sessions. More recently, she’s had the opportunity for a second surgical procedure.

However, further surgeries are likely for her, given her ongoing battle with cancer. Despite this, Nicole expressed a sense of optimism regarding her future plans.

She shared that there are more surgeries coming up next month which she’s looking forward to. She carefully considered her choices because she wasn’t certain about the best path for her. With so many suggestions and alternatives available, she needed time to think it over. Consequently, she spent a year listening to various opinions, reflecting on them, and eventually making an informed decision.

Nicole also spoke about how her daughters have supported her throughout her cancer treatments.

She mentioned that her eldest resides in New York, thus escaping the majority of the events that her younger one experienced, but they’ve been incredibly supportive. They help me step out of my personal circumstances, as being a mother gives me purpose and prevents self-pity. As she explained, when you’re a mom or parent, your responsibilities make life seem so much larger than yourself.

Due to their care for her, Nicole expressed that it seemed like she needed to demonstrate for them the way one “tucks in one’s sleeves and stays strong.

‘It’s given me a lot of motivation, it’s given me my purpose,’ she admitted.

Previously, the actress underwent a solitary mastectomy in October of the previous year, announcing it publicly six days later during an interview on Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ podcast.

At that time, she wished for a double mastectomy, but her doctor suggested a single mastectomy instead. The reason being, having just one breast removed would bolster her immune system more effectively compared to removing both, thereby helping her return to treatment sooner.

In the recent past, I’ve learned that Eggert underwent yet another mastectomy, skillfully handled by the esteemed Dr. Kyle Song, a renowned plastic surgeon from Orange County.

In an intimate update to my followers, I shared a candid selfie from my recovery room, where I’m proudly sporting a sports bra and a matching pair of undergarments. This snapshot was taken during my healing process following a recent procedure.

On Thursday, I underwent a mastectomy with reconstruction – quite an eventful week for me! How about you? How did your weekend go? 💗 #BreastCancerAwareness #FeelYourBoobsUp

In the heart of October 2023, a distressing discomfort took root in my left chest, a region I fondly refer to as my cherished fan territory. Over the span of mere three months prior, this area had expanded by an astonishing 25 pounds, leaving me quite literally, and unfortunately, smitten with pain.

Initially, she believed her symptoms were due to menopause, but upon conducting a self-examination and detecting a lump, she promptly contacted her physician.

After undergoing a mammogram and having three biopsies, she eventually got her official diagnosis for that December: it was stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer.

In February 2024, she revealed that further instances of cancer were found in her lymph nodes and admitted she wished she had performed self-examinations on her breasts earlier.

During her interview on Inside Edition, she expressed regret saying, “If only I had been doing regular self-examinations, that’s what I should have been doing.

Upon hearing her diagnosis, Nicole felt a sinking sensation, as if her heart had dropped, and she suddenly became deaf to the world around her. The diagnosis was for an uncommon type of cancer known as invasive cribriform carcinoma.

As a diligent health enthusiast, I’ve observed that locating any irregularities in my breast area can sometimes prove challenging due to the presence of tissue from the implants I received when I was 19 years old.

In a recent interview in February, Nicole, who underwent a breast reduction surgery on the show Botched about a decade back, referred to her initial breast implants as a significant error.

In simpler terms, she speculated that if she hadn’t had the larger implants and was still naturally endowed with her smaller breasts, she believes she would have noticed the issue earlier on.

Last February, during an interview, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of empathy as Nicole openly shared about her deepest dread – the prospect of not being able to be there for her daughters, Dilyn, age 27, and Keegan, 14.

Last October, Nicole shared additional insights about her ongoing fight against cancer during her appearance on the Amy and T.J. podcast, giving a deeper understanding of her journey.

The mother shared that she completed eight months of treatment, and six days ago she underwent a mastectomy. She is scheduled to resume her treatment again in the future.

She reported that her doctor advised: ‘I understand your preference for the double dose, but it’s crucial for you to resume treatment as well. Let’s opt for the single dose instead – it will bolster your immune system more than if we administer both. This way, you can enter treatment sooner, reducing the risk of infection and expediting your recovery time.’

Nicole shared with T.J. and Amy that she had the choice to undergo a double mastectomy, but her doctor cautioned her: ‘It’s best to proceed carefully rather than hastily. Delaying might give us a chance to catch any potential spread of the condition before it progresses too far.’
