Bay Area rapper wounded in shooting at Hollywood recording studio, LAPD says

On Thursday night, a rapper from the Bay Area was wounded in an armed robbery at an East Hollywood recording studio. The incident occurred when the robber demanded that the rapper hand over his watch, which he refused to do. According to reports from authorities and sources, this refusal led to the rapper being shot.

As a die-hard fan of hip-hop, I found myself in a chilling situation recently. Known in the rap world as “Lil Yee,” Stacey Gilton, was unexpectedly targeted during one of his recording sessions. An unidentified individual barged in and demanded his watch, leaving me with two gunshot wounds to my chest. This harrowing event was confirmed by an anonymous LAPD source, discussing an ongoing case.

According to reports, Gilton was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent surgery, and while his situation remained critical, it was considered stable at that time.

Last night around ten, I was on patrol when we were signaled towards a shooting incident in the 4500 block of Melrose Avenue. Upon arrival, we discovered a 32-year-old individual who had been shot by a suspect during an attempted robbery. According to my statement, this suspect unleashed multiple gunshots at the victim.

Obituaries

Following his recent funeral, Arthur ‘King Bobalouie’ Moses was honored for being an early associate of the Crips and a founding father of the Pirus, which ranks among the earliest established Bloods street gangs in the U.S.

Law enforcement officials gathered a basic sketch of the suspect, a young Black man estimated to be between his late teens and mid-thirties. This individual made a hasty exit from the scene in an unidentified vehicle, heading off in an undetermined direction. At that early point on Friday afternoon, no apprehensions had been reported regarding the shooting incident. The authorities stated that this incident was not linked to any ongoing gang feuds.

It’s being looked into if the robbery could have been a planned scheme involving another rapper.

Born and raised in the Fillmore district of San Francisco, Gilton unabashedly showcases his local heritage during a 2022 interview with renowned music journalist Jeff Weiss on his website. As per the interview, he independently launched his successful single “War” in 2016, which has amassed close to 5 million streams on Spotify.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but express my gratitude for that incredible track. It provided me with an exceptional stage to showcase my talent, and more importantly, it connected me with fans who resonated deeply with its poignant themes on grappling with sorrow and mental wellbeing in wrestling.

The shooting is the latest in a string of high-profile shootings and robberies of musical artists.

Local icon Nipsey Hussle was murdered outside his clothing boutique in South L.A. in 2019.

In February 2020, the promising artist Pop Smoke tragically lost his life during a home invasion, an incident that occurred when he unintentionally shared his location in the Hollywood Hills on Instagram, having traveled there from New York for a visit.

In 2022, three rappers – PnB Rock (born Rakim Allen), Kee Riches from Compton (Kian Nellum), and Half Ounce hailing from Inglewood (Latauriisha O’Brien) – tragically lost their lives in the Los Angeles region.

This past week, it was reported by TMZ that Le Vaughn, a popular figure and ex-boyfriend of the “Gucci Flip Flops” rapper Bhad Bhabie, suffered a gunshot wound to his hand during an incident at a nightclub with a downtown L.A. location.
