BGIS 2026: Schedule and Format explained
This year’s event is the first big esports competition with a live, in-person audience in India. Registration began on December 15th, 2025, and will stay open for several weeks, closing on January 4th, 2026.
The competition will include both invited and open-qualified teams, with a total of 1080 teams competing for the championship. The tournament will be held over ten stages, beginning with qualifying matches within the game itself. The grand final will take place in late March, from the 27th to the 29th.
Round 1
The competition will consist of four rounds. The first round will involve 1016 teams, plus the 8 lowest-performing teams from the first week of the Grind. These teams will be divided into 64 groups of 16. The top 7 teams from each group, along with an additional 48 teams, will advance to the second round. Round 1 is scheduled to run from January 26th to February 1st.
Round 2
Round 2 starts on February 5th and ends on February 8th. A total of 512 teams that advanced from the first round will compete. These teams will be divided into 32 groups, and the top 7 teams from each group will move on to Round 3.
Round 3
The competition now features 256 teams. It will begin on February 12th and conclude on February 15th. Teams will be split into 16 groups, with the top 6 from each group advancing to the next round. Additionally, 16 more teams will be chosen based on their overall performance.
Round 4
Round four starts on February 19th and finishes on February 22nd. The 128 remaining teams will be split into eight groups of sixteen. After this round, the top seven teams from each group will move on to the Quarter Finals. The next eight highest-ranked teams will compete in a Wildcard stage.

Quarterfinals
Sixty-four teams will participate in this stage of the competition. They’ll be split into four groups, with the best 16 teams moving on to the semi-finals. The other 24 teams will compete in a wildcard round. The competition starts on February 26th and concludes on March 1st.
Wildcard
Okay, so after the last round, the next stage kicks off on March 5th and lasts for four days. We’re looking at 32 teams competing, and 24 of them are coming straight from the Quarterfinals. Basically, the top 8 teams overall will make it to the Semi Finals – gotta grind to be one of them!
Semifinals
The semifinals are scheduled for March 12th through the 15th and will feature 24 teams. Sixteen teams qualified through the Quarterfinals, and eight more advanced from the Wildcard Stage. These teams will be split into three groups of eight, and will play each other twice in a round robin format, resulting in 16 matches per team. The top eight teams overall will move on to the grand finals, while the remaining teams will compete in the Survival Stage.
Survival Stage
Sixteen teams will compete in the Survival Stage over two days of matches, playing a total of twelve games. The eight highest-performing teams will then move on to the grand finals.
Grand Finals
The championship finals will be held from March 27th to 29th. It will be a live, in-person event featuring 18 matches over three days. The exact location is still to be revealed.
Participating Teams
The competition will start with an open number of teams – anyone who registers can participate. After an initial qualifying round within the game, the field will narrow to 1016 teams. The highlight of the event will be the Grand Finals, where just 16 teams will battle it out for the top prize. We’ll find out which teams make it to the finals once the competition gets underway.
Prize Pool
I’m so excited for this event! The prize pool is HUGE – a massive 2 crore rupees! It’s a little different from last year’s BGIS 2025 though, the top teams will actually be taking home a bit less money this time around. Here’s how the prize money will be split up:
