We’re getting a first look at the streamer’s new sci-fi Western series, starring a compelling antihero. The show blends the epic scope of a classic Western with exciting science fiction elements and plenty of action. It follows a cyborg who acts as judge, jury, and executioner in a wild, Steampunk-inspired world where the law doesn’t exist.
Netflix’s new adult animated series, Bass X Machina, is a unique blend of Steampunk, Westerns, science fiction, and supernatural themes. The series stars a highly acclaimed actor – known for roles in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Eternals, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Bullet Train, and Transformers One – as Bass, the main character. Bass X Machina is scheduled to debut this fall, and you can find a first look and series overview below.
Bass X Machina takes place in a dangerous, Steampunk-inspired Wild West filled with ruthless criminals, powerful machines, and frightening supernatural creatures. A father must take the law into his own hands to protect his family, but he fears that each act of vengeance could put them in even greater danger.
‘Bass X Machina’ Will Hit Netflix in October

I’m so excited for Bass X Machina! Brian Tyree Henry is going to be amazing, and he’s even executive producing! The cast is incredible too – I love seeing familiar faces like Janelle Monáe as Glory, and Tati Gabrielle as Dana. Plus, Cree Summer as Ahni, Chaske Spencer as Lighthorse, Currie Graham as Rivenbark, and the fantastic Starletta DuPois as Etta – it’s a dream team!
Get ready for Bass X Machina, coming to Netflix on October 6, 2026! The exciting new series is being animated by the acclaimed South Korean studio, Studio Mir, known for popular shows like The Legend of Korra, The Boondocks, Voltron: Legendary Defender, My Adventures with Superman, X-Men ’97, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Adding to the experience, the original music will be composed by Roman GianArthur and Nate Wonder of Wondaland.
Combining science fiction and Western themes is a long-standing tradition in movies and stories. The new series, Bass X Machina, follows suit, featuring a compelling, troubled, and often violent main character. It’s designed to attract viewers and hopefully become a big hit on streaming platforms.
