As a lifelong fan, I was so worried to hear that Barry Manilow had to cancel some performances. He recently shared that it was due to a cancer diagnosis, and while it’s scary news, I’m just glad he’s been open about it and focusing on his health right now.
Shortly before Christmas, 82-year-old Copacabana singer announced he had lung cancer and would need surgery. He also shared that he wouldn’t require chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
Barry posted on Instagram this week saying he’s feeling much better after completing his treatment.
The announcement excitedly shared that Barry is doing well and has added six more concerts to his March lineup.
This March, Barry is planning to travel to Charlotte, Norfolk, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Lexington.
As a lifestyle expert, I always say it’s so important to be present, especially during difficult times. Trust me, down the road, you’ll really cherish having been there to offer your final farewells. It’s about being there for the people you care about, and you won’t regret it.

Barry shared in December that his doctor recommended an MRI because he’d had two long-lasting cases of bronchitis.
He shared on Instagram that after recovering from bronchitis and returning to performing at the Westgate Las Vegas, his doctor requested an MRI as a precaution to ensure he was fully healthy.
He added that it was ‘pure luck’ that the spot was discovered early.
Lung nodules, or spots on the lung, are frequently found and are often not cancerous. However, the Mayo Clinic notes that they should be checked by a doctor because they can sometimes be a sign of lung cancer, which is the most common cause of cancer death.
The star is a longtime smoker who has switched to vaping in recent years.
Barry told the London Evening Standard in 2012 that he’d been smoking since age nine.
He was spotted vaping in Palm Springs just weeks ago in photos obtained by Daily Mail.
Hey everyone, just wanted to share that I’m taking some time off to really prioritize my health and recovery. I announced it on Instagram a little while back, around December 22nd, but wanted to make sure everyone knew I’m focusing on myself right now.

He shared that unfortunately, now that the Christmas Gift Of Love concerts have finished, he needs to have surgery to remove a growth.
The doctors don’t think the condition has spread, and I’m getting tests to make sure they’re right. Thankfully, that means no chemotherapy or radiation – just rest, comfort food, and watching my favorite old TV shows.
Oh my gosh, I was so excited because my absolute favorite performer had dates planned for a US tour starting in January 2026! They were going to be in Orlando, Tampa, Charleston, Greensboro, and even Columbus! I was already planning my whole life around it!
He explained that needing a month to recover means the January concerts at the arena will need to be rescheduled, and he apologized for any inconvenience this causes.
Barry announced he’ll be performing again in February, hinting that it will be a very festive event. He said, ‘I have a feeling February is going to be a huge celebration!’
Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year! And please, if you feel even a little unwell, get tested.
