Barry Keoghan responds to ‘disgusting’ trolling after Sabrina Carpenter split
As a fan who has followed Barry Keoghan’s journey from his challenging childhood to his meteoric rise in the entertainment industry, it’s heartbreaking to see him dealing with such negativity online. The relentless trolling and disgusting comments he’s faced are simply uncalled for, especially when directed at someone who has worked tirelessly to better himself and provide for his young son.
Barry Keoghan shares that he’s reached a point where he can endure no more online scrutiny, following the uproar triggered by news about his alleged breakup with singer Sabrina Carpenter.
Over the weekend, the actor from “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “Saltburn” chose to deactivate his Instagram account and shared a detailed message on X platform, addressing the distressing online harassment he has been subjected to, likely since news about his break-up surfaced last week.
Music
It seems that Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan have decided to pause their one-year relationship in order to concentrate fully on their individual professions in the music and film industries.
The Irish actor stated, “I need to address this immediately as boundaries are being overstepped. I’ve decided to take a break from my account due to distractions from my personal life and work commitments. I kindly request that everyone remains considerate in their interactions.
32-year-old Keoghan stated that he’d come across messages which “no one should ever have to encounter,” containing remarks he classified as “blatant falsehoods, hate, vile commentary about my personality, looks, parenting skills, and any other inhumane things you can think of.” He explained that these comments tarnished his reputation and all he’d worked diligently for, representing his values.
The Oscar-nominated actor said some commenters had described him as a “heroine [sic] baby” and had dragged his “dear mother” into the discourse. The online harassment may have spilled over into the real world: He alleged that some people had knocked on his grandmother’s door or sat outside his 2-year-old son Brando’s house “intimidating them,” which crossed a line for him. (Keoghan, who grew up in foster care because of his mother’s heroin addiction, was raised in part by his grandmother and had Brando with his ex-girlfriend Alyson Sandro.)
He consistently strives each day to improve and strengthen himself, aiming to be the healthiest and strongest for his son. His goal is to offer him chances to learn, make mistakes, and develop. He aspires for his son to admire him, trust him completely, and understand that he’ll always support him no matter what challenges they face. As he writes this, remember that one day his son will read about his father. Please treat the content with respect, and thank you. x
Please be respectful

Last week, it was said that Keoghan and the “Espresso” singer parted ways following nearly a year of dating. An anonymous source revealed they’re both committed to their careers, leading them to take some time apart for now. Entertainment Tonight suggested that the actor and the singer had experienced ups and downs in their relationship due to Carpenter’s rapid rise in fame.
The unexpected breakup took everyone by surprise as they had been very open about their relationship on social media, with Keoghan frequently interacting with Carpenter’s posts, starring in her “Please Please Please” music video, and even attending multiple of her concerts. He also openly praised his girlfriend as “massively talented” during an interview on “The Louis Theroux Podcast.” Coincidentally, in the same podcast episode, Keoghan shared insights about his difficult childhood, his son, and the cyberbullying he experienced long before his association with Carpenter.
Awards
As a passionate cinephile, I’d rephrase it like this: “When there’s a break between takes, you’ll often find actors relaxing in the green room, regardless if they’re the main character or only have a single line.
As a devoted Carpenter fan, I couldn’t help but notice the buzz surrounding my connection with that LA-based influencer after an anonymous tip from Deuxmoi suggested that we had ended our relationship just before his final Short n’ Sweet shows in Los Angeles. The tip also hinted at my close proximity to this semi-famous individual, who happens to be quite popular on TikTok.
In response to the mention made about her, Breckie Hill, a popular figure based in Los Angeles, also joined the conversation, clarifying via TikTok that she was not romantically involved with Barry.
She stated, “I’ve never met this man personally. The only time I’ve witnessed him is when he appears on my television while watching ‘Saltburn.’ Allow me to clarify, but if I truly was dating Barry, why would I be posting about it? Given that I have experienced betrayal myself, I wouldn’t want to interfere with any relationship or cause any girl distress – absolutely never.
