Barry Humphries’ Sydney apartment sells for $6.1million – one year after the star’s death
As a dedicated fan of Barry Humphries, I cannot help but feel a pang of sadness and nostalgia as I read about the sale of his beloved Sydney apartment, a place where he spent the later years of his remarkable life. The news brings back memories of his indelible contributions to the world of comedy, theater, and art.
Barry Humphries’ three-bedroom apartment in Sydney has sold, one year after the comedian’s death.
Based on The Daily Telegraph’s report, Humphries’ family has agreed to accept a $6.1 million deal from Romano and Patricia Lacino.
The Quay West building houses this property, offering breathtaking vistas of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
It features an expansive living and dining area and two bathrooms, one with a spa.
At the complex where you’ll find the level 30 apartment, there are facilities including a swimming pool, sauna, spa, parking area, and around-the-clock concierge service.
The apartment had a $6.3million price guide.
In the year 2004, Paul Ramsay’s late estate sold the property to Humphries for a price of 2.5 million dollars.
The Australian comedic legend died at Sydney’s Vincent Hospital last April at the age of 89.

Humphries had a long and debilitating battle with an inoperable cancer before his death.
For weeks, the comic had brushed aside concerns about the seriousness of his condition.
In February 2023, while trying to grab a book, Humphries stumbled over a rug at home and required surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital as a result. Unfortunately, he had to be readmitted there before passing away.

The family stated that he remained true to himself, keeping his sharp intellect, distinctive humor, and giving nature until the end.
Dame Edna Everage remains one of Humphries’ most identifiable inventions.
Humphries excelled not only as a musical theater actor but also displayed great skill as a landscape painter. He produced films, penned books, and crafted screenplays as well.
A state memorial was held at Sydney Opera House in December last year following his tragic death.
