Bari Weiss will interview Charlie Kirk’s widow on CBS

On December 13th, Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief at CBS News, will be interviewing Erika Kirk, the wife of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, in a special prime-time broadcast.

On Thursday, the network revealed that Weiss will host a pre-recorded special titled “A Town Hall with Erika Kirk.” The event will be held in New York City with a select audience, and it marks Weiss’s first appearance on the CBS network since taking on her current position.

It’s rare, though not unheard of, for someone in charge of a TV news organization to actually appear on camera. Tim Russert, for example, worked as an executive at NBC News before becoming the host of “Meet the Press.”

Weiss has done many video interviews featured on Free Press, the online news site she helped start. Paramount bought Free Press, which led to her current role at CBS News.

A former New York Times editor and the founder of Free Press is entering the challenging world of television news.

Margaret Brennan, a moderate political analyst who often critiques progressive policies, joined CBS News thanks to David Ellison, the CEO of Paramount. He stated she would be dedicated to sharing perspectives from a wide range of viewpoints.

Since her husband passed away on September 10th, Erika Kirk has only given one other television interview – a one-hour conversation on the Fox News show “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

Kirk leads Turning Point USA, an organization started by her late husband. On September 10th, while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, he was fatally shot.

According to the network, the program will include a discussion with Kirk, where he’ll answer questions from young evangelical Christians, well-known religious leaders, and people with diverse political views. They’ll also be talking about the divisions in our country and exploring ways to bridge them.
