As a dedicated follower of antiques and a long-time fan of Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, I am absolutely thrilled to hear about Irita Marriott’s latest venture, The Derbyshire Auction House. Having watched her expertise and knowledge unfold on our screens for years, it’s fascinating to see her now in the role of an auction house owner.

A Bargain Hunt celebrity has shared about discovering common home items with surprising high values, totalling thousands of pounds.

Irita Marriott, recognized for her appearances on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, has secured her own program titled The Derbyshire Auction House.

The expert’s television program features visits to homes in the community in search of valued possessions that may hold significant monetary worth.

Irita, currently the proprietor of an auction house, assists families in securing the most favorable prices when they bid on discovered items during auctions.

During an interview with The Sun, Irita shared some surprising discoveries she made while searching through various homes.

During filming the initial season of the show, an expert disclosed her discovery of a kitchen tool valued at a considerable price.

She shared: “I delight in discovering hidden gems among things, uncovering their unknown pasts or value, and narrating their fascinating tales to others.”

In someone’s home, I discovered an old spoon hidden away in a cupboard under the stairs for decades, having been passed down through generations.

“To them, it seemed insignificant and of no value. They had merely placed it there while rearranging some items in their space.”

Irita couldn’t contain her enthusiasm as she revealed that a Californian private collector had purchased the astonishing find, a spoon, for £3,300 following museum interest in Australia.

Additionally, she uncovered a painting dating back to the late 1700s, which later proved to be a masterpiece created by a renowned artist.

She said it was ‘all down to gut feeling’ at noticing the jaw-dropping art work.

Anything Irita discovers during filming for her show is put up for auction at her personally owned auction house, which she bought in 2023.

During a more recent episode of Antiques Road Trip in the year 2023, the hosts were astonished to find an item selling for eleven times its original cost at auction.

Irita jumped up and down with joy as the £20 vintage London Bus sign sold for an ‘amazing’ profit.

In the new episode, Irita began with a total of £570.80 in her savings, while Mark trailed behind with only £114.78.

But Mark’s luck soon changed when he stumbled upon the item that went on to make a huge profit.

At a cost of just £20 apiece, Mark was pleased with his discovery and decided to bring the signs to W&H Peacock Auction Centre to assess their value.

As an obsessed fan, I can’t contain my excitement as I announce, “Wow, we’ve received so many bids for this commission! I’ll have to set the starting price at a thrilling £140!”

When the auction came to an end at £240, a delighted Mark said: ‘Thank you. A good buy, I think.’

The Derbyshire Auction House airs on Mondays at 9pm on Really channel.
