Get ready for a wild ride with Bambi: The Reckoning, hitting screens on March 27th! This isn’t your childhood story – it’s a terrifying tale of a deer driven to vengeance after losing his mother, and he’s on a destructive path to get it.
Most people know Bambi from the famous 1942 Disney movie, but the story actually began as a German novel written for adults. Titled Bambi, a Life in the Woods, the book, written by Felix Salten and illustrated by Kurt Wiese in 1923, is a coming-of-age tale about a young deer and served as the basis for the later adaptation.
Bambi: The Reckoning is the latest horror film from The Twisted Childhood Universe, a series that reimagines beloved children’s stories as slasher movies. The franchise also includes Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023), Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 (2024), and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare (2025).
TCU has several upcoming movies, including Pinocchio: Unstrung and Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, both scheduled for 2026. Several other films are also in the works, though their release dates haven’t been announced yet. These include Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3, Snow White Returns, Alice & The Mad Hatter, and Tigger’s Return. Additionally, two new Mary Poppins movies and another sequel to Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare are also planned.
Roxanne McKee, famous for playing Doreah in Game of Thrones, led the cast of Bambi: The Reckoning. She played Xana, a character Bambi seeks out because of her connection to those responsible for his mother’s death. The film also included performances by Tom Mulheron as Benji, Nicola Wright as Mary, Samira Mighty as Harriet, Alex Cooke as Simon, Russell Geoffrey Banks as Andrew, Joseph Greenwood as Harrison, Catherine Adams as Jo, Ewan Borthwick as Eddie, David Ambler as Rob, Luke Cavendish as Joshua, Adrian Relph as Michael, and Big Tobz as Tyler.
Bambi: The Reckoning will be released on Peacock on March 27, 2026.
