Baltic and SpaceOne, two watch brands with very different styles – one inspired by classic designs and the other by modern, minimalist aesthetics – have joined forces to create the Seconde Majeure. This collaboration is the result of a five-year friendship between the founders of both companies: Etienne Malec, Guillaume Laidet, and Théo Auffret.

Instead of just putting an existing watch movement into a typical case, the team created a completely new case design. It measures 38.5mm and is made from durable 904L stainless steel. The case has a sleek, curved bezel and uniquely shaped lugs that are comfortable to wear. It comes with a soft, beige strap made from Alcantara by Delugs.

This watch features a unique way of telling time, built around a special mechanism created by watchmaker Théo Auffret. Instead of traditional hands, it uses separate sapphire discs to display the hour at 12 o’clock and the minutes at 6 o’clock. A large, sweeping second hand adds a sense of movement to the otherwise static dial. The dial itself is crafted from a single piece of maillechort and comes in two finishes: brushed or a hand-applied ‘Charbonné’ technique. The watch is powered by a Soprod P024 automatic movement, which runs for up to 42 hours.

You’ll be able to pre-order the Seconde Majeure watch for six days, from May 12th to 17th, 2026, directly from Baltic Watches and SpaceOne. The first watches will ship in November. The brushed dial model costs €2,500 (around $2,695 USD), and the hand-finished Charbonné version is priced at €3,500 (approximately $3,775 USD), not including taxes.
