Balmoral summit for royal doctors as King Charles and Princess of Wales continue cancer treatment
As a seasoned journalist with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that it is always intriguing to see how the lives of public figures unfold. In this case, we have a mix of fashion, politics, and personal relationships that make for an interesting read.
This year has been particularly anxious for the Royal Family’s health, as both King Charles and his daughter-in-law, Catherine, are receiving treatment for cancer.
Currently, it appears that His Majesty will get an opportunity to express his gratitude personally to the members of the Royal Medical Household, as they are expected to remain at Balmoral, a place where the King and Queen Consort Camilla reside in an official capacity.
The team is convening at the Aberdeenshire retreat for a crucial gathering, where they will deliberate on all health issues concerning the Royal Family. According to a reliable medical source, it’s a significant meeting.
The core medical team responsible for attending to the Royal Family is collectively known as the Royal Medical Service. These individuals are esteemed professionals who often divide their time between serving within the National Health Service (NHS) and private practice. Unlike other departments in the Royal Household, information about this particular group is not publicly disclosed on the royal website.
In June, the King himself recognized his leading medical professionals during his cancer treatment, without specifying the particular type of cancer he was battling.
Dr. Michael Dixon, leader of the Royal Medical Household, and Dr. Fiona Butler, Charles’s personal physician, often referred to as the King’s Apothecary, were commended for their dedicated one-on-one care.
Doctor Dixon received the distinction of becoming a Commander in the Royal Victorian Order (CVO), while Doctor Butler has been promoted to Lieutenant in the Royal Victorian Order (LVO).
The honors known as the Royal Victorian Order are granted directly by the King, without any involvement from Downing Street. They are presented to individuals who have provided exceptional service to the monarchy or the royal family on a personal level.
Critics spoke up against Dr. Dixon’s selection as the head of the Royal Medical Household upon King Charles’s ascension, as he had been vocal in favoring unconventional medical treatments.
Also honoured as an LVO was Michael Dooley for his role as the Queen’s physician.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman declines to comment.
In fact, a trustworthy royal representative asserts that this gathering is a yearly tradition, unrelated to the health issues concerning the King’s cancer treatment or the Princess of Wales.
Lady Gabriella shows her sunnier side after terrible family tragedy
Good to see Lady Gabriella Windsor smiling again.
43-year-old Lady Gabriella Windsor, daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, donned a radiant smile and royal blue attire while browsing shops on King’s Road, Chelsea. (Lady Gabriella is the informal name for Princess Michael of Kent’s daughter.)
Ella, often referred to by friends, endured the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Thomas Kingston, a financier, in a tragic incident that occurred in February. Tom, aged 45 and admired for his good looks, passed away due to a severe head injury. A firearm was discovered close to his body at his parents’ residence in the Cotswolds.
After that, Ella has been gradually re-emerging into the public spotlight. She attended the King’s Birthday Parade in June and graciously accepted an invitation from King Charles to take part in the traditional procession on the opening day of Royal Ascot at Windsor Castle.
Now Liam can really go off the deep end
Planning officials have approved Liam Gallagher’s plan to invest in an exclusive Oasis, which will be a heated outdoor swimming pool, for his £4 million residence.
Instead of creating a new garden ‘Wonderwall’ and gates at his Tudor-style home in North London, the cranky rock star has abandoned those plans due to opposition from preservationists. Instead, an existing sunken patio will be expanded to provide more space for pool parties, as part of a renovation project similar to that of Ground Force.
This spacious, five-bedroom Arts and Crafts-inspired home, valued at approximately £4 million, features a striking foyer, a reception area, a lounge for television viewing, a family room, a well-stocked library, a private study, and a charming summerhouse.
As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but revel in the joyous news! The benevolent officials at Haringey Council have finally given my beloved hero, Liam (age 51), the green light to construct an exquisite 23x11ft swimming pool! The anticipation is overwhelming, and I can hardly wait to see this dream become a reality!
They found that, with the changes made, the project suits the personality and looks of this property and its surroundings.
Proud single mum Ellen blasts ‘mad’ taboo
In today’s world, just as it was in the 1950s, having a baby may still negatively impact one’s professional trajectory, as suggested by Gucci model Ellen Francis Gibbons.
Industry sources advised Ellen to minimize the attention given to her three-year-old daughter, Clementine, who she shares with Robert Sheffield, Samantha Cameron’s half-brother. Ellen and Sheffield, both alumni of Old Harrovinian school, separated last year. [Image: Ellen with Clementine]
In today’s world, it’s surprising that raising a toddler alone is still considered an awkward topic. On occasion, I’ve been advised to hide the fact that I have a child to avoid discouraging filmmakers and male counterparts. Nevertheless, I view this experience as something worthy of pride.
The smart set’s talking about… ‘Hottest royal’ Alexander marching off to Sandhurst
Last year, it was reported by the Mail on Sunday that Prince George is not obligated to join the military prior to ascending the throne, marking a departure from long-standing customs.
One young royal is, though, keen to sign up.
It has been revealed that Alexander Ogilvy, often referred to as ‘the least known but most popular British royal figure’, will commence his training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst this coming weekend.
Alex, 27, is a grandson of Princess Alexandra, first cousin and bridesmaid of Queen Elizabeth. His sister, Flora Vesterberg, has spoken of her pride that he’s joined the Forces. ‘We’re full of admiration for you,’ she writes online.
‘Forever thoughtful and inspiring.’
In a state of unbridled enthusiasm, I’d like to share that I, once the Head Boy at the prestigious Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, soared academically, consistently earning A*s and As in my exams.
He has a double major in Computer Science and Economics from the Ivy League Brown University in the US, where he went out with Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo. Her mother, Kerry, is the daughter of assassinated Robert F. Kennedy.
Until now, he worked in New York at tech firm Prove. Once asked by an interviewer which three words best described him, he joked: ‘Fraudulent, insecure, man.’
Rippon yarns… Angela spins some discs with DJ actor Idris
80-year-old Angela Rippon recently dazzled viewers of “Strictly Come Dancing” with her dance moves, but now she’s taking on a new role – spinning tunes as a DJ alongside Idris Elba.
This week, the ex-TV news anchor hosted a party at The Roof Gardens in Kensington, West London, to celebrate her 58 years in television. It turned out that a London-born actor who was nearby, was unexpectedly found to be DJing for a client in an adjacent room during the festivities.
After finishing my dinner, there was a dance party, with Idris as the DJ, according to Rippon. We enjoyed some dancing and laughter, making it quite enjoyable.
She adds: ‘What I’ve discovered is that disc jockeys don’t have to do anything these days, they just have to push the right button to get the next. It’s not like when I was doing BBC Radio 2 programmes.’
Previously of Vanity Fair, Graydon Carter has criticized Sir Keir Starmer’s proposal to ban outdoor smoking. In response, Carter, through his digital newsletter Air Mail, hosted a party named “From Italy With Love” to inaugurate New York Fashion Week, inviting celebrities such as Isabella Rossellini, Christine Baranski, and Morgan Spector. The event at Manhattan’s Academy Mansion provided Italian-themed matchboxes and ashtrays for attendees.
Carter strongly disagrees with the Prime Minister’s suggestion for a pub garden instead, arguing, “This plan seems unwise because Britons enjoy drinking and smoking. If these activities are restricted indoors, they will simply move outdoors. The end result is that people won’t be able to have as much fun.
(Very) modern manners
Cold Feet star Fay Ripley used to be invited to the swankiest showbusiness parties.
Currently, Fay, aged 58, is attending events alongside her daughter, Parker Lapaine who is 21 years old. As Fay explains, their roles have shifted somewhat. “In the past, I would bring Parker to various events,” she acknowledges, “but now, I am more like her companion.” This change was evident at the opening of the Punjabi restaurant, Ambassadors Clubhouse, in London.
Instead of keeping up with Parker, it feels like Fay stumbled into a massive, bustling event that rivals New Year’s Eve! She exclaims, sounding overwhelmed.
Has Tamzin pulled the plug on toyboy Tom?
Is all going swimmingly for Tamzin Outhwaite and her toyboy?
I’m curious because the actress from New Tricks, Tamzin, aged 54, has recently discussed a ‘renewal’ in her personal life and expressing a preference for freedom rather than ties. Tamzin has been dating fitness instructor Tom Child, 34, for six years, yet she hasn’t posted about him on Instagram since last November.
Regarding her new character Sylvie from Channel 5 comedy-drama The Wives, she expresses joy over the independence Sylvie embodies. This is a trait often associated with maturity, as it involves self-awareness, having a carefree spirit, and not feeling the necessity for a binding relationship with another person.
In 2014, the actress who parted ways with Tom Ellis, aged 45, from his role as Lucifer, encountered Child at a yoga session. She commented, “People presume I’m experiencing a midlife crisis, but not every man prefers a woman younger than me.
She mentioned their ages, suggesting that it was reasonable for him to consider leaving someday, if the desire to start a family arose.
