As a seasoned food critic with decades of dining and critiquing under my belt, I must say that I was thoroughly impressed by young Dylan Bachelet’s journey on the Great British Bake Off. From his innovative flavors to his flawless presentation, it was clear that this 20-year-old retail assistant had a bright future ahead of him in the culinary world.

Dylan Bachelet, the runner-up from The Great British Bake Off, has left his new employers at a Michelin-starred restaurant impressed by his modest and genuine demeanor.

This exceptionally skilled baker had been highly anticipated to take home this year’s trophy, but unfortunately, they faltered under the stress during the last rounds, allowing Georgie Grasso, a pediatric nurse from Wales with an impressive baking skillset, to emerge victorious instead.

Fans of the show learned with delight on yesterday that the young talent, aged 20, managed to secure his coveted position as a chef at the fashionable eatery, The Five Fields, located in the elite Chelsea district of West London.

Recently, Dylan began his new position, not long after finishing work on The Great British Baking Show. He casually shared with his coworkers that he was a participant in the show, without revealing the extent of his success.

Manager Matthew informed TopMob: “We were quite astonished. We hadn’t realized the extent of his success when he applied; he merely mentioned being a participant on The Great British Bake Off, but we hadn’t known the level at which he excelled.

A couple of weeks into his job, he’s been rather secretive about his progress, and it turns out we knew nothing about the extent of his advancement.

The manager noted that he is extremely personable, and the restaurant has experienced an overwhelming response due to Dylan’s achievements.

Located in the heart of Chelsea since 2013, The Five Fields is a charming, contemporary eatery boasting approximately a dozen tables. This cozy British restaurant specializes in modern cuisine.

Drawing from the bounty of their farm in East Sussex, menus are regularly updated each week to reflect the freshest seasonal produce at hand.

At a premium eatery boasting an impressive array of wines, patrons can indulge in a predetermined menu for eighty pounds per person. The current starters feature oysters, scallops, or lobster; main courses encompass duck, venison, and cod. To conclude the meal, diners have the option of a pear tart dessert accompanied by crème fraîche ice cream.

For an additional £170 per individual, you can opt for a diverse tasting menu that includes twelve distinct courses. This menu comes accompanied by expertly chosen wines to complement each dish.

For the past ten years, it has garnered numerous accolades for its groundbreaking methods, such as being named Squaremeal’s Restaurant of the Year, receiving four AA Rosettes, and earning a Michelin star.

As a die-hard Bake Off fan, I couldn’t hide my elation when I heard that Dylan finally secured his dream job after the disappointing finale. The rollercoaster of emotions we went through together was worth it in the end!

After an almost flawless performance throughout the series with two ‘Star Baker’ titles, Dylan faltered in the final episode of the show on Tuesday night.

Throughout the entire show, Dylan consistently impressed judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with his unique flavor combinations and impeccable plating.

Nevertheless, the stress of the finale seemed overwhelming for the ex-retail worker, whose scones fell short of expectations and placed last in the technical round.

Spectators confessed that they nervously peeked at the last episode, with Dylan and the other contenders getting closer to the climactic performance.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must admit that Dylan’s attempt to recreate the magical charm of Murano in a gravity-defying floating cake didn’t quite hit the mark this time around. The end result was less than ideal, with a lumpy and concertinaed sponge that fell short of the desired elegance and finesse.

Following Dylan’s advancement to the finals of The Great British Bake Off 2024, the restaurant took to their social media platform and extended a hearty congratulations: “Massive kudos to our very own @DylanBachelet_ for qualifying for this year’s GBBO finals!

Dylan has skillfully kept his successes under wraps, making us root for him even more in every episode! We couldn’t be prouder of his achievements!!!

Enthusiastic supporters voiced their opinions about Dylan’s recent employment change after his disheartening finish in the championship.

‘Instead of being thrilled that Dylan became a Michelin star chef, we were heartbroken he didn’t win The Bake Off Final. But discovering his new job in a Michelin-starred restaurant was like the cherry on top.’

As an ardent fan, I can’t help but wonder: ‘Me, thinking Dylan deserved that Michelin star more than anyone else?’ The Great British Bake Off left me in disbelief. Georgie’s final bake was undeniably beautiful, but it just didn’t seem fair she made it to the final. All along, I’ve been rooting for Dylan – it’s a real pity his final performance fell short of his usual brilliance. He’s been consistently outstanding throughout the competition.
