Bad Sisters season 2 episode 7 features another boring chase (Review)
As a gamer who has spent countless hours binge-watching shows and sifting through the good, the bad, and the downright awful, I must say that Bad Sisters season 2 is starting to feel more like the latter for me. And I’m not just talking about Ian, although he certainly qualifies as a prick of epic proportions!
Oh dear, honestly speaking, I must confess that season 2 of “Bad Sisters” has left me quite disappointed. The first season was exceptional and quickly became one of my favorite shows. However, this time around, I’m finding it hard to connect with the series as I once did. Regrettably, episode 7, titled “How to Pick a Prick,” didn’t seem to alter that sentiment. Here’s our take on this week’s installment of the Apple TV+ series. SPOILERS AHEAD.
As it transpires, Ian is indeed a deceiver and swindler, harboring secrets that have now surfaced. Immediately in this episode, we find out he’s emptied Blánaid’s inheritance money from its original account and placed it into his own, acting underhandedly. He’s not just unscrupulous but also plans to submit the footage showing Bibi, Ursula, and Becka with Angelica at the docks, which may lead others to believe they were involved in her disappearance since she didn’t return with them.
Although it was somewhat expected, it turns out Angelica is indeed alive! And truth be told, I’m not exactly filled with sympathy for her situation. Don’t get me wrong – it’s a relief she’s not gone. But given the trouble she caused herself, I can’t help but feel that a bit of pain and chaos was perhaps warranted. I apologize if this seems harsh, but such is my sentiment.
Throughout the episode, the eldest sister and family caretaker, who rarely loses composure, finds herself frantically searching for Ian and Eva. The situation is understandably causing her distress, given that Ian manipulated her emotions, deceiving her and even sharing an intimate moment in bed with Eva. As we predicted, this turn of events was a poor decision on Eva’s part.
When Joe remarks “the Garveys are experts at choosing thorny roses,” he’s actually being quite modest. He’s spot on in his observation. Oh, Joe, he might seem harsh now, but he’s got a soft heart underneath all that roughness. He has every reason to feel the way he does. I adore Becka and Matt Claflin as a couple. I can only wish they would end up together. However, it appears that’s not going to happen, as evidenced by their farewell. And despite this, Joe truly is a kind soul.
It turns out Ian is not just anyone, but also a gambler – an unexpected revelation indeed! To make matters more shocking, it seems he’s already married with children. Incredible! This plot twist certainly took me off guard. To put it mildly, he appears to be a deceitful individual of questionable character.
It seems that the question is asking about the motivations behind the man marrying Grace and becoming involved with the Garvey sisters. One possible reason could be that he ran out of money due to gambling, leaving him in a position where he had to find a way to support his own children. However, this is speculation as it’s not explicitly stated. The plot thickens as the man disappeared and the sisters spent an entire episode trying to locate him, but now he’s ready to discuss things with Eva. We will find out more details next week.
Regrettably, this week’s episode seemed less engaging than anticipated due to the Ian reveal and twist. Surprisingly, his family life and kids were an unexpected aspect for me. Similar to last week, a significant portion of the episode focused on searching for Angelica and clearing their trail, making Bad Sisters season 2 episode 7 feel like a town-wide chase that lacked intrigue. To be honest, I found myself fast-forwarding through certain parts of the episode.
I’m quite let down because I genuinely enjoy the series. However, I must admit that it feels like they could have wrapped it up after one season. The chaotic storyline of JP in season 1 indeed made for intriguing viewing. But there’s no denying, the Garvey family seems to draw some unsavory characters. Now, I wonder what the season finale next week will bring? Episode reading level: C
