Bad Sisters season 2 episode 3 review: A new bully is in town
As a seasoned gamer of life’s rollercoaster, I must admit that the latest twist in “Bad Sisters” left me utterly flabbergasted! The death of Grace, the enigmatic sister with a past as dark as her hair, sent shockwaves through the small screen and into my living room. And now, with each episode, the Garvey sisters are grappling with the aftermath in a way that only they can – with a mix of heartache, suspicion, and, of course, a dash of Irish wit.
Last week marked the debut of season 2 for “Bad Sisters,” and it left us all in a state of surprise! Frankly, I hadn’t anticipated the show to write off Grace. And in the third episode of this season, titled “Missing,” the Garvey sisters grapple with the fallout from losing one of their own. The emotional turmoil is palpable, as the storyline weaves together mystery as well. Here’s our take on the episode, now available on Apple TV+. SPOILER ALERT.
Initially, the episode centers around the other sisters discovering what transpired, with each of them shedding tears in consolation. Frankly speaking, given that no corpse was shown on screen, I’m somewhat speculating that Grace might have staged her own demise or something similar. However, it’s worth noting that Ursula confirmed the death and even a funeral was held. Curious, isn’t it?
In episode 2, Gracie appeared to be struggling significantly, with her sisters playing a role in this decline. However, a large portion of this turmoil can be attributed to Angelica, whose motives were less than honorable. A fresh troublemaker has emerged in the community, and this is far from what the sisters require. Angelica’s behavior closely mirrors John Paul’s, which is alarming. She manipulated Gracie and Ursula for information, only to use it against them. Moreover, we witness that Angelica phoned Ursula’s workplace and falsely accused her of stealing pills.
That’s is definitely a JP move right there. But oh my goodness, these poor Garveys. Why do they keep confiding in Angelica? I just want to yell, stop! when I see them about to tell her their secret. Also Angelica’s reaction at the funeral? What a drama queen, seriously. Back to Ursula. She spirals the way we saw Grace spiraling because she feels guilty, thinking Grace may have crashed after Ursula offered her pills to help her calm down. But her blood test comes back clean. No alcohol or drugs at all.
This definitely takes a huge weight off Ursula’s shoulders, and wow actress Eva Birthistle did such a good job in this episode. You can see the guilt and fear all over her face. And then the relief that washes over her. Great acting! Oh, plus Ian is back and Grace did not indeed hurt him. Understandably he needed time away after such a huge confession. Can the sisters really trust him? I guess we’ll find out. Matt Claflin is back, which I’m personally excited about too.
In addition, Eva learns that Grace withdrew a large sum of money just an hour before her accident. What was her reason for doing so, where was she going, and why did she reach out to Eva for assistance? As it turns out, due to Angelica pressuring Ursula into contributing funds to repair the soccer team’s window, the siblings speculate that Angelica may have used similar tactics on Grace, given their newfound knowledge about John Paul’s incident. The question that lingers is why Blánaid is meeting up with Angelica – WHY!? (paraphrased for a more conversational and engaging tone)
As a dedicated fan, let me share my thoughts on the third episode of Bad Sisters season 2 – it was another powerful installment! The series has kicked off with quite a bang, and I’m already hooked. They’ve skillfully introduced a plot twist, delved deeper into the mystery, and subtly yet effectively established our new antagonist, Angelica. Her intentions are clear, but her quiet, haunting methods leave me on edge. Kudos to Birthistle for delivering a stellar performance this week! I can’t wait to see which sister will be Angelica’s next target and uncover the reasons behind her obsession with them. Episode grade level: B.
