‘Bad Boys’ actor Theresa Randle detained by LAPD after suspected felony assault incident
As a seasoned movie critic with a keen eye for talent and a knack for understanding the human condition, I must say that Theresa Randle‘s recent brush with the law is indeed disheartening. Having seen her portray a loving wife on the silver screen, it’s hard not to feel a pang of disappointment when an actor’s personal life takes a turn for the worse.
Actress Teresa Randle, known for portraying the loyal spouse of Martin Lawrence’s character Marcus Burnett in three “Bad Boys” movies, was detained in Los Angeles this week on suspicion of felony assault involving a lethal weapon, though no charges have been filed against her.
On Monday, Randle, aged 59, was taken into custody due to an event that transpired on Saturday, as confirmed by Officer Charles Miller, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, on Friday.
On Saturday, Miller stated that there was a disagreement in the 500 block of 7th Street involving Randle and another individual. According to Miller, Randle is said to have attacked the person involved, and he returned to his downtown L.A. residence two days later. It was then that the alleged victim contacted authorities to report the previous altercation, leading to the detention of Randle on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Unfortunately, specifics about the victim and the weapon are yet to be disclosed.
On Monday at 4:30 p.m., Randle was taken into custody, as confirmed by the jail records of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, and he was officially processed later that day.
On Wednesday, she was freed because the District Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles County chose not to proceed with the case against her. Therefore, technically speaking, this situation should be regarded as a release rather than an arrest, considering that she was let go without any formal charges being filed, according to California Penal Code.
On Friday, neither Randle’s representative nor officials from the District Attorney’s office provided additional comments to The Times after their request for more information was made.
