Back to the Future Star Lea Thompson is Now a Grandma!
Lea Thompson is officially a grandmother.
63-year-old actress known for her part in Back to the Future revealed on social media that she’s become a grandmother, as her oldest child, Madelyn Deutch (at 33 years old), welcomed a baby girl into the world.
She titled a series of photographs on Instagram, ‘Welcome to this captivating, wondrous world, tiny one,’ showcasing images of the newborn and her thrilled relatives.
On February 2, 2024, Madelyn Carlisle (nee Madelyn) and her spouse, Zach Carlisle, welcomed a new addition to their family whom they named Robbie June Carlisle.
Lea posted her baby pictures with this caption: “Robbie June Carlisle! Guess who just became a grandma? Friends, there’s an overwhelming sense of joy and happiness resonating within me.
I’m incredibly thankful and proud of Maddie and Zach for daring to trust and embrace love. Howie, Zoey, and I are…” (This version maintains the original sentiment while using simpler language that is easy to read and understand.)
Lea and her husband, director Howard Deutch, are also parents to actress Zoey Deutch, 30.
Zoey marked the arrival of her niece by posting pictures on her Instagram Stories, among them was a snapshot of a snoozing Robbie with the caption: “My heart’s genuine treasure.
Madelyn also introduced her firstborn on Instagram, saying Robbie was born on 2 February.
She posted a picture from the hospital, with her baby on her lap, captioned: ‘Our rainbow girl.’
She also said her family was ‘so grateful’ to have their friends loved ones in their lives.
Lea, famously known for playing Lorraine Baines-McFly in the Back to the Future series, has been hitched to Howard since the year 1989.
In the entertainment business, both daughters, Madelyn and Zoey, have chosen their paths. In 2017, they all worked together on a movie titled “The Year of Spectacular Men,” which was Lea’s first time directing. Remarkably, Madelyn wrote the script and starred in the film, while Zoey played a significant role as well.
In December, Thompson, a vocal supporter of Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race, found himself emotional during an intimate conversation with DailyMail.com, just hours following Vice President Harris’s defeat against Donald Trump.

Thompson confessed that she was terrified for her daughters and expressed uncertainty about how to proceed following Trump’s election victory.
When questioned regarding her latest critique towards her former fiancé, Dennis Quaid (aged 70), who supported Trump (aged 78) during a campaign rally in California last October, the actress found it challenging to hold back her tears.
She was questioned about her previous remarks concerning Dennis Quaid and his relationship with Donald Trump. Given your longstanding advocacy for women, some may wonder if your comments yesterday were not in line with that. What can we do to progress from here onwards?
Thompson fell silent and started to cry before offering the dejected response: ‘I don’t know.’

Struggling to contain her emotions she continued: ‘I don’t know. I’m sorry.’
She was asked if there was a reason to be optimistic, to which she responded, “To be honest, I’m not feeling overly optimistic. Instead, I’m feeling quite fearful. I have daughters.
I might not directly impact us, but as a mother, I’ve encountered many individuals deeply touched by infant loss.”
This version aims to convey the same sentiment while sounding more natural and easy to read.
‘It just, I feel really bad for them. But America’s spoken.’

She added: ‘We engage in conflicts. We battle for the conflicts we choose. At the moment, it’s not very enjoyable.’
Speaking in jest, I can’t help but echo the spirit of Doc Brown from Back to the Future. You know, that iconic scientist with the DeLorean time machine, played by Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly. In today’s world, we could surely use a dash of that time-traveling magic!
‘We need that,’ she said. ‘We need to get on that.’
For nearly 36 years, she has been with her partner, whom she first encountered during the production of Some Kind of Wonderful.
