Bachelorette Star Katie Thurston Faces Stage 4 Cancer Fears After Wedding

In simpler terms, Katie Thurston, who was the seventeenth Bachelorette, shared a painful update about her ongoing struggle with stage 3 breast cancer, only two days following her rapid-pace marriage ceremony with Jeff Arcuri.

After the 34-year-old newlywed’s recent checkup, her doctor found some marks on her liver, potentially indicating advanced disease progression to stage 4.

On February 13, Katie received a diagnosis of cancer despite having no previous family history of it. This diagnosis came about following the discovery of a painful lump in her breast. She had initially been set to start participating in the I-Spy breast cancer trial on Friday.

On Monday, Thurston shared in the exclusive Boobie Broadcast group that her liver biopsy is set for Friday, originally planned as her treatment day.

Currently, we’re in a holding pattern. It appears that she is relying more on her struggle with liver cancer rather than optimism, which might suggest a stage 4 diagnosis for her. I’m keen to learn about the experiences of my sisters who are also at stage 4, particularly regarding their quality of life and their roles as mothers.

The comedian’s trial for detecting breast cancer through standup comedy has temporarily paused, as it initially planned to administer a Zoladex injection for shrinking tumors, followed by several sessions of chemotherapy and surgical intervention. However, these procedures are now waiting for the outcomes of her biopsy results.

Katie’s life is moving incredibly fast as she recently married her 36-year-old standup comedian partner, whom she met on Instagram a year prior. Their whirlwind romance led to an engagement five months later and they officially became husband and wife during a small backyard ceremony attended by their parents last Saturday.

Thurston and Arcuri not only took in rescue dog Charlie from Best Friends New York, but they also underwent a series of In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatments at the fertility clinic, RMA of New York, with the goal of eventually starting their own family.

As a committed individual, I set aside a fortnight prior to engaging in any other breast cancer-related tasks, focusing solely on undergoing IVF, as I shared with Us Weekly last Sunday.

Many women might not be aware that it’s possible to allocate ten consecutive days for focusing on one’s reproductive health and family planning considerations. In our case, we successfully retrieved 17 eggs from the process, and out of those, six matured into embryos.
