Bachelorette star James McCoy Taylor accused of ‘shoving’ woman and ‘getting on top her’ as she tried to leave his apartment
As a seasoned observer of human drama, I find myself increasingly troubled by the recurring incidents in the life of this particular individual, Taylor. It seems that his journey has been marked not only by rose-filled romantic encounters on reality TV shows but also by a trail of legal entanglements and questionable behavior.
38-year-old James McCoy Taylor, one of the contestants on The Bachelorette, has been accused of pushing a woman, believed to be a 19-year-old college student, to the ground without her permission. He is also alleged to have climbed on top of her in an attempt to keep her down when she tried to get up.
On August 4, Taylor was taken into custody in College Station, Texas by the Bryan Police Department, following an arrest warrant issued on April 24 – the same day as the incident. According to reports by People, this action was taken.
In 2016, during JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette, a past television personality was accused of assault resulting in physical harm and illegal confinement, as reported by the media based on jail records.
In the warrant, neither her name nor age was documented, however, KBTX mentioned she is a 19-year-old university student.
Taylor spoke to People, refuting the allegations: “I’m quite large in stature, yet I was attempting to ‘restrain unlawfully’ a girl who simply managed to escape and swiftly made her way to an Uber that happened to be parked outside my home. This occurred without any injuries? It’s unfathomable to me because I never harm anyone. I am always kind to every person I encounter.”
Speaking for myself, I can attest that not even the tiniest mark or blemish could be found on me, as evident from the photographs I had to share with the authorities, an experience that was undeniably uncomfortable.
Two years following his arrest for DWI and illegal possession of a firearm, as well as having an ‘intoxicated’ 18-year-old college freshman in his vehicle, the individual was apprehended again, this time for urinating publicly outside his truck in a parking garage at 1 am.
Taylor ended his statement to People, saying, ‘I didn’t get to know her name as we didn’t spend much time together, but I believe she wouldn’t want things to have escalated like this if she had the chance to do it over. Moreover, I don’t harbor any animosity towards you. Instead, I wish I understood your perspective and the origin of all this.’
On the very same day, Taylor was granted release on a combined $8,000 bail, with $4,000 for each charge. The charges were: one for inflicting bodily harm through assault, and another for illegal detention.
The authorities obtained a warrant based on allegations from the police department that he forcibly, coercively, or deceptively pinned down a woman. This was done by pushing her to the ground, sitting on top of her, and using his body weight to prevent her from getting up off the floor.
In College Station, he encountered her at Manziel’s Money Bar, after which he returned to his dwelling, as stated in the probable cause report, according to People.
They allegedly ‘made out’ and the woman described it as getting ‘very serious and intense.’
After making my way to the restroom, I picked up my phone to request a ride from a friend, allowing me to conveniently depart.
After escorting her to his front door, he is said to have kissed her first, and as she went to leave by opening the door, he reportedly started kissing her once more.
The woman claimed that after attempting to depart, she was pushed to the ground by Taylor, who then pinned her down, followed by accusations of inappropriate touching and using his body weight to force additional kisses, as reported by the source.
The document noted that she said she ‘wiggled free and escaped from the front door.’
According to the sworn statement made by Detective Gregory Blankenship Jr, he noted multiple bruises on her hip area and the left part of her lower back.
Additionally, the investigator discovered text conversations between the woman and her friend, wherein she wrote: ‘He’s acting inappropriately towards me.’ This implies she meant he was coercing physical contact.
Taylor told Blankenship that the interaction was ‘enjoyable and consensual.’
He also denied ‘shoving’ the woman down and ‘getting on top of her.’
In September 2022, he wasn’t having his initial encounter with the legal system; previously, he had been apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol and illegally possessing a firearm.
A Brazos County judge had found Taylor guilty on both charges a month later.
In the end, he received a sentence that required him to spend five days behind bars, pay a total of $1,135 (which includes a $500 fine and $635 in court fees), and temporarily lose his driving privileges.
Taylor found himself embroiled in a contentious situation when he took part in the protests at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, in Washington D.C., which were staged in response to the former President Donald Trump’s defeat in the 2020 elections.
The events at the Capitol led to the deaths of five people, including protestor Ashli Babbitt.
According to both the Capitol Police union and the Washington Post, approximately 140 officers sustained injuries during the event.
During that period, Taylor expressed gratitude on (informal terms, Twitter) as follows: ‘A big thank you to The Bachelor family for their support throughout this phase… right from the start to the very end.’
“Top-notch conservative content creators are truly appreciated! A big thank you goes out to ABC Network, ABC, and Bachelor ABC for standing by me as I upheld the law in support of our president.”
On January 2021, the creator of The Bachelor, Mike Fleiss, responded to the former contestant’s statement regarding the situation.
Fleiss stated: “The person who once belonged to our cast and is now known as an impolite troublemaker for attending the treasonous rally of Trump – here’s a message for you: You have been expelled forever from the community of #BachelorNation!!!”
In the year 2016, Taylor got eliminated during week 7 of The Bachelorette television show, finishing in fifth place overall.
As an over-the-moon fanatic, I can’t hide my excitement anymore! The Bachelorette, Fletcher, picked none other than the charismatic ex-pro quarterback, Jordan Rodgers, who happens to be the beloved NFL star Aaron Rodgers’ brother. And guess what? On May 14, 2022, they sealed their love with a beautiful marriage! I couldn’t be happier for them!
