Heads up! This text is about the finale of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Season 10, which aired on September 2. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can catch up by subscribing to Hulu.
The reimagined first season of “Bachelor in Paradise” has concluded, marking its finish on the 2025 television schedule with two couples receiving a monetary award and one getting engaged. Despite the finale, I’m still puzzled about the specifics of the upcoming reunion special, having navigated quite the maze to reach this point, even after seeing Jesse Palmer’s “love or money” ultimatum resolution.

Two Couples Take Home Cash Prizes After Choosing Love
In the realm of Bachelor in Paradise’s Season 10, I found myself grappling with several aspects, primarily the incorporation of a cash prize that seemed to take center stage. Initially, the season was filled with typical drinking and festivities, especially for the Goldens. However, Jesse Palmer threw us all a curveball when he announced that the cast members had an opportunity to potentially pocket up to half a million dollars.
After a series of chaotic yet captivating events, the relationships were solidified and tested in rather anticlimactic ways. However, love remained strong for couples Andrew Spencer and Alexe Godin, as well as Spencer Conley and Jess Edwards. These fortunate pairs walked away with over $100,000 each, and Spencer went down on one knee to propose to Jess!

Wait, But Didn’t They Have To Choose Between Love And Cash?
Indeed, the ultimatum in the BIP Season 10 finale didn’t seem convincing to me. The couples were split up, with Jesse Palmer informing each couple separately that they had two choices: take $250,000 and leave on their own or forgo the money to rejoin their romantic partners. Each of the four contestants opted for love. However, wouldn’t it have been possible for them to accept the money first and then reunite later?
In the end, it didn’t affect them greatly, as Jesse Palmer offered them three envelopes instead after they forfeited their cash prize. Andrew and Alexe found $125,000 in their envelopes, while Spencer and Jess received checks worth $190,000. So they ended up receiving… less money? (Not quite correct, they received different amounts.)
“In the end, it didn’t make a significant difference, since Jesse Palmer replaced their cash prize with three envelopes, each containing a check for a specific amount. Andrew and Alexe found $125,000, while Spencer and Jess discovered $190,000. Therefore, they received… varying amounts of money.
It’s unclear whether I would have been happier if they had received more than they initially rejected, or if they hadn’t received any money at all in the end. But the way it unfolded seemed wrong to me. However, that wasn’t the only confusing part of the finale for me. (A more concise version could be: “I’m unsure whether I would have preferred them to accept more or nothing, but the outcome felt off. The finale was also puzzling.”)

Bachelor In Paradise Is Having A Reunion, But The Details Are Wild
Normally when Bachelor in Paradise concludes, we receive an on-screen summary of the couples’ current statuses, and that’s all for this season – it’s on to the next show within the Bachelor Nation universe. This time, though, there’s a twist – instead of the usual wrap-up, we have a reunion special titled “Bachelor in Paradise Unplugged“, hosted by Wells Adams. However, unlike regular ABC broadcasts, this event won’t air on ABC itself. As reported by BachelorNation.com, here are the details.
‘On Wednesday, September 3rd at 11 p.m. Pacific Time / 2 a.m. Eastern Time, an exclusive edition of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ called ‘Unplugged’ will be broadcast only on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. The second part will follow on Friday, September 5th, and both episodes can be streamed on the Bachelor Nation YouTube channel starting Saturday, September 6th.’
Instead of having both audio and video available at the same time upon initial release, you’ll only receive the audio, with the option to view them together starting Saturday. One might wonder why not simply wait for the complete video to be released? It seems unlikely that many listeners would tune in for the podcasts initially, only to revisit later for the “Unplugged” special.
It appears quite unusual, but it seems appropriate for a season that has left me feeling like I’m frequently confused and even losing my bearings. Frankly, I can’t seem to tell north from south ever since the entire cast resorted to their “rude bro code” to defend Jeremy Simon after he betrayed Bailey Brown.
It seems that no matter how things unfold, congratulations are due to both Andrew and Alexe, along with the newest engaged pair from Bachelor Nation, Jess and Spencer. I’m quite curious about what developments will arise following such a puzzling season finale.
