Baccarat Rouge 540 Is More than a Fragrance in New Documentary

Okay, so Maison Francis Kurkdjian just dropped a documentary about how they made this really cool art installation, “The Alchemy of Senses.” It’s all based on their super popular Baccarat Rouge 540 scent – basically, they turned the fragrance into a whole artistic experience. As a fan of both the game and the scent, I’m super excited to check it out!

The documentary ICON(S) premiered following the unveiling of a stunning artwork at the luxury house’s Perfume, Sculpture of the Invisible exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris last year. The multi-sensory installation, showcased among light sculptures, abstract paintings, and bubble-filled spaces, beautifully captured the core feeling of the brand’s signature scent.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian showcases inspiring creators – like chef Anne-Sophie Pic, composer David Chalmin, pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque, sculptor Elias Crespin, and director Cyril Teste – and how they translate the scents of perfume, specifically its floral and woody elements, into their own artistic fields of music, cuisine, and visual art.

The artists collaborated, drawing inspiration from their explorations of sights, sounds, and styles to create the installation. The finished piece, showcased in the recent exhibition, is a shimmering glass sculpture. Uniquely, it contains an edible version of the perfume at its core and is accompanied by a specially composed soundtrack. The radiant design demonstrates that Baccarat Rouge 540 is more than just a scent – it’s a lasting muse.

TopMob attended the New York premiere of the documentary, which was held at the Museum of Modern Art. Check out the video to see what happened!
