It is said that Michael Longfellow allegedly found out about being let go from Saturday Night Live through a call from his agent, rather than directly from the show’s creator, Lorne Michaels.
According to a report by The Daily Beast, it’s stated that Kenan Thompson, aged 31, learned during his time at an airport in Utah that he would no longer be a member of the Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast.
He was reportedly amongst other passengers awaiting their flights when he received the bad news.
In the 48th season, Longfellow, aged 31, became a featured performer on Saturday Night Live, gaining recognition for his work on the Weekend Update segments. Now, he’s one of four cast members choosing to part ways with the show.

As a devoted follower, I’ve come to understand from my observations that when it comes to employment matters at Michaels, it’s often the subordinates who break the news to comedians about being hired. Similarly, in instances of dismissal, I’ve noticed that SNL cast members usually hear about it through their agents.

More rarely, they learn about their axing on the news.
Sometimes, Michael reaches out to potential cast members or writers for hiring through phone calls, as noted by the publication.
Upon sharing his farewell on Instagram, Longfellow expressed gratitude for his time on the program and extended heartfelt appreciation towards Michaels.
Instead of coming back for a fourth season at SNL, I won’t be able to. If only I could, but as things stand, it didn’t happen that way. The past three years have been the most exceptional in my life so far, and I am filled with nothing but gratitude for the experience and everyone involved. Lorne, you provided me with an unparalleled job opportunity and significantly impacted my life. You even managed to get my mom on television. Words like ‘thank you’ barely express the depth of my appreciation, but thank you all the same.
‘I’ll miss it all, but I’ll miss the friends I made and seeing them everyday the most.
Anticipating what lies ahead with eagerness! I hope my tenure on SNL left an impression: Smoking might make you thin and fashionable, Jesus was of East Asian descent, and if a turtle causes you issues, well, it’s not for us to harm any creature. I wouldn’t recommend that.
During an unexpected visit, Longfellow was pondering the latest news while attending James Austin Johnson’s stand-up comedy performance in Brooklyn on Sunday.
A spectator shared with The Daily Beast that Longfellow seemed quite down while responding to queries regarding his dismissal.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I couldn’t help but notice the melancholic air that hung around him. Though he valiantly attempted to conceal it, his demeanor screamed, “I’m really having a tough time.
A Reddit user, who stated they were present, reported that Longfellow responded to queries regarding his dismissal from the program, found it surprising, and expressed displeasure, stating simply, “it’s not fun.

The online user remembered Longfellow sharing with the crowd, “‘The man next door is aware that I’ve lost my job. Yet, we are essentially strangers to each other; neither of us knows much about the other, but he knows I’m out of work.’
Additionally, this Reddit user pointed out that he didn’t communicate with Lorne personally but learned about it through his representative. Interestingly, he appeared to be fine, and surprisingly, he was seen socializing at the bar following the performance, which suggests there might be more details disclosed by others.
As a devoted fan, I’m sad to share that Longfellow, Heidi Gardner, Emil Wakim, and Devon Walker won’t be rejoining us for the upcoming season of our show. Their presence and contributions have been invaluable, and we’ll miss them dearly.
According to Rolling Stone’s latest interview, Walker clarified that his departure from the show wasn’t entirely due to Lorne; instead, it was a joint decision between them.
In response to your query, let me share my perspective. To put it plainly, it feels as though the show and I have mutually agreed that it’s time for us to part ways and embark on our individual journeys.
‘I think I felt ready to leave the show, and I think the show felt ready to leave me.’
In simpler terms, last week, a lot of people were surprised when it was confirmed by Daily Mail that Heidi Gardner, who is much loved by fans, had left the show following an outstanding eight-year stint. Some angry viewers even demanded that SNL be cancelled due to the recent wave of cast departures.

The Daily Mail contacted Gardner’s representatives for a statement, but NBC’s representative chose not to comment on this matter to the Daily Mail.
The Daily Beast wrote Gardner’s departure from the show was ‘almost certainly’ her choice.
In the year 2017, during its 43rd season, Gardner became part of the main cast of Saturday Night Live together with then-cast members Luke Null and Chris Redd.
She was then promoted to the main cast two years later.
Since then, the Missouri-born actress has written and starred in countless iconic SNL sketches.
