Axed Giovanni Pernice makes triumphant return to Strictly as he is praised for ‘greatest dance of all time’ – after he was forced to leave show over BBC ‘bullying’ investigation
As a lifestyle expert with extensive knowledge of dance and entertainment, I must say that watching Giovanni Pernice’s return to Strictly was nothing short of breathtaking. His performance with Rose Ayling Ellis during their groundbreaking silent dance last year continues to be one of those unforgettable moments in the show’s history, and it was heartwarming to see him back on the stage after a challenging period.
Last night, Giovanni Pernice gracefully returned to Strictly, leaving an indelible impression with his silent dance that earned him accolades from the judges, hosts, and fellow dancing professionals.
The actor, who had to depart from the series due to an investigation by the BBC after Amanda Abbington accused him of bullying, played a significant role in the program’s 20th anniversary special.
He was lauded for his groundbreaking dance with deaf partner Rose Ayling Ellis in 2021.
As a devoted admirer, I was left astounded during their captivating act to Clean Bandit’s Symphony. At a pivotal moment midway through their performance, the music unexpectedly halted, yet remarkably, their dance rhythm persisted.
The special performance was dubbed the ‘greatest dance of all time‘ on Strictly.
Mr Pernice’s return came as he competed in the finale of the Italian version of Strictly, Ballando Con Le Stelle.
Throughout the entire series, they, along with their partner Bianca Guaccero, consistently led the pack, holding the top spot on the leaderboard each week.
Reflecting on Rose Ayling Ellis and Giovanni Pernice’s routine from Strictly Come Dancing: 20 Fabulous Years, Motsi Mabuse stated, “That particular dance they chose still resonates with me. It was incredibly touching.

Head judge Shirley Ballas said: ‘There wasn’t a dry eye in the house,’ while host Tess Daly added: ‘I had goose pimples on my arms and tears in my eyes.’
Supporters of Mr. Pernice, who was exonerated from the severe accusations made by Ms. Abbington, express that he was delighted to be recalled, even though he unexpectedly departed the program last year.
However, he sported a smile in Rome the previous night, participating alongside Ms. Guaccero in the finale of the Italian contest.
Of the final, he said: ‘I have been overwhelmed with the love and support shown.’
Initially, the BBC proposed inviting Mr. Pernice, aged 34, to participate in Ballando Con Le Stelle, thus setting a path for him to reemerge into the limelight.
