As a devoted admirer, I found myself experiencing an uncomfortable moment that required a gentle laugh during the recently unveiled second season of my show, ‘With Love, Meghan.’
In the ‘Weekend Away’ episode, Meghan Markle (Duchess of Sussex) and her friend Heather Dorak participated in a cocktail-making workshop led by mixologist Payman Bahmani-Bailey.
In the course of their conversation, Meghan, aged 44, inquired in a relaxed manner about Payman’s background as a mixologist, and he shared that he had previously practiced law in New York City before transitioning to his current profession.
Meghan showed interest and asked him if he had watched Suits, a legal drama that she was a part of for seven seasons.
‘No, no, I don’t watch basic cable,’ he brutally replied.
All Meghan could do was chuckle as he explained: ‘I like shows with curse words and stuff.’

‘Great, I love it!’ Meghan laughed.
In the legal drama series Suits, Meghan played the role of determined and dedicated paralegal Rachel Zane from 2011 to 2018. She chose to depart the show prior to her wedding to Prince Harry.
Following the declaration by a royal source, it was stated that Meghan found it challenging to distinguish her personal identity from her royal role, and she perceived negative criticisms against her as personal insults.
When discussing her character on Suits, author Tom Bower mentioned in his book, “Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors”, that she primarily focused on maintaining her personal public image.
Believing that she was about to achieve global fame, she found herself frequently thinking about Rachel Zane’s role.
Frequently, she immersed herself in Aaron Korsh’s vision for the character Zane, a cunning and feisty opportunist. She worried that her own image might be tarnished due to her role in Suits being portrayed as an untrustworthy woman.
In Bower’s account, she requested that Korsh discontinue the affair plotline out of concern for possible negative reactions or criticism.
Korsh concurred, understanding that he wasn’t merely crafting an engaging tale, but also faithfully capturing Meghan’s genuine character and essence.

Now, it can be clarified that Meghan has at last spoken up about the uproar concerning her surname, as she has confirmed that she is now known as ‘Meghan of Sussex’.
In a casual setting, such as over smashed burgers and beers during an interview with Bloomberg journalist Emily Chang for the promotion of her second season on Netflix, the Duchess was inquired about her genuine, official name by the journalist.
As a dedicated admirer, I simply cannot help but share this delightful tidbit: In a charming display of personal flair, the remarkable Meghan, age 44, made it clear during her exchange with the illustrious Mindy Kaling, renowned actress and The Office star, that she now goes by ‘Sussex’ instead of ‘Meghan Markle’. This delightful nugget comes from season one of With Love, Meghan.
Her comment sparked a significant uproar on social media due to the fact that, according to reports, Meghan has allegedly only visited England’s county once and doesn’t carry an official family name within the royal household.
In my opinion as a lifestyle expert, it’s worth noting that some royal enthusiasts have suggested that Meghan may have overlooked a significant detail in her interview with Emily – the fact that her official surname, should she choose to use it, is Mountbatten-Windsor rather than just Windsor. This is a fascinating insight into the intricacies of royal titles and naming conventions!
When Emily inquired if Sussex is a surname, Meghan clarified that it isn’t – instead, she, her spouse Prince Harry, and their kids Archie (age six) and Lilibet (four), occasionally or informally refer to themselves as using the name Sussex as their surname.
She then clarified that her official legal name is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
She shared that her formal name is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, but within their family circle, they refer to themselves using ‘Sussex’ as their common surname, a name she has been known by since her marriage, especially when it comes to their children.
After tying the knot, I opted to adopt a new surname that may seem puzzling to many due to its atypical structure, as our family name isn’t commonly found in such a configuration.
As an American who had the chance to visit, upon returning, I found myself puzzled, saying to myself, “This is quite perplexing!” Yet, it turns out, it’s a dukedom.
