The celebrated broadcaster, writer, and filmmaker passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
I was such a fan of Sir Humphrey’s work! He really shaped my love of arts programming, hosting shows like Omnibus and In Performance on the BBC. What many people might not know is he was also the person in charge of all the BBC’s music and arts output for the entire 70s and 80s – a truly impressive career!
His family shared that he was a beloved father and grandfather, and that his passion for classical music brought joy to many. They said he will be deeply missed, but they find solace in knowing he is now resting peacefully.
Claire Dibble shared the heartbreaking news on X, posting a touching photo of herself with her father.
