Award-winning BBC ‘cult comedy’ gets first look at new season – with Steve Coogan joining cast

The BBC has shared a first glimpse of the second season of Funboys and revealed that comedy legend Steve Coogan will be making a guest appearance. Known for his role as Alan Partridge, Coogan will join the show’s returning cast in the award-winning series.

Nick Coogan will play Phillip, an actor who’s disappointed with his career and now finds himself performing as a member of the aristocracy at a folk museum.

The second season will bring back the original cast, including Ryan Dylan, Rian Lennon, Lee James, Ele McKenzie, Brian Devlin, Owen Colgan, Paul Bazely, and Richard Croxford. A premiere date hasn’t been revealed yet.

Simon Mayhew-Archer, the executive producer at Mayhay Studios, stated that Funboys isn’t just a TV show – it’s a way of looking at things. He expressed gratitude to the BBC for sharing its message with a large audience.

Rian Lennon described the first season of Funboys as something new and fragile, like a newborn fawn. He then said the second season is much more confident and adventurous – a strong, young deer running boldly into the wild, letting out a powerful cry.

What to Read Next

Ryan Dylan encourages viewers to savor the second series of Funboys, suggesting they fully enjoy its humor and allow it to resonate with them.

Season two brings back the characters from Ballymacnoose, who have matured after dealing with loss, difficult personal issues, and challenging behavior in the previous season. They’ve come through it all changed and ready for what’s next.

Life is good in Ballymacnoose! Callum’s sporting a new perm, Gemma and Lorcan can’t stop kissing, and Jordan hasn’t had a major outburst in four months.

Things take a turn for the worse when the group stumbles into a complicated bit of Irish history. Soon, they’re dealing with prejudice, personal insecurities, and even robot fights. Unless they watch out, their good times could quickly come to an end.

Can the Teletubbies’ gentle nature heal old wounds? Is Jordan actually balding, or is he just claiming to have a receding hairline? Will the residents of Ballymacnoose accept Lorcan as he begins a new romantic journey, and is Lorcan himself prepared for it? And just who is so interested in Lorcan’s personal life?

This new show follows a group of friends, the Funboys, as they navigate the challenges of growing up in the countryside. Will they ever manage to become responsible adults?

I’m so excited – season one of Funboys is finally available to watch on BBC iPlayer! We’re all waiting with bated breath for news about when season two will drop, but there’s no official date yet.

The latest issue of Living Legends, a beautifully illustrated 100-page tribute to Sir David Attenborough, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
