Avengers: Secret Wars Rumors Give MCU Updates on X-Men, Illuminati, & More

Some new Avengers: Secret Wars rumors should excite fans who are anxiously waiting for the MCU movie.

Currently, Marvel Studios is filming ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ with Joe and Anthony Russo – known collectively as the Russo Brothers – directing. The movie is slated for release in December 2026, and they are also directing the follow-up, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which is expected in 2027.

What are the latest Avengers: Secret Wars rumors?

Alex Perez, a reporter for The Cosmic Circus, was asked about the upcoming movie *Avengers: Secret Wars* and whether it will delve into the history of the Builders. In Marvel Comics, the Builders are a very old race split into two groups – the Creators and the Engineers – and they’re responsible for shaping the universe as we know it.

However, according to Perez, it’s unlikely we’ll see them in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars. He doesn’t believe Marvel will go that route.

We know some X-Men characters will be in *Avengers: Doomsday*, but the cast for *Avengers: Secret Wars* hasn’t been announced yet. When asked if the X-Men from the Fox movies will also appear in *Secret Wars*, producer Kevin Feige stated that some of them will.

Perez mentioned that the Illuminati group from the movie *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness* (seen in 2022) may appear again in a future Marvel project. It’s currently unclear if this will be in *Avengers: Secret Wars*. The Illuminati shown in *Doctor Strange* included characters like Mordo, Peggy Carter, Black Bolt, Maria Rambeau, Reed Richards, and Charles Xavier.

Perez also stated that Marvel’s Multiverse storyline will generally wrap up after the movies *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Avengers: Secret Wars*.

Details about the upcoming “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars” storylines are still secret, so this information is just a rumor. If true, “Doomsday” is expected on December 18, 2027, and “Secret Wars” on December 17, 2027.
