Avengers: Secret Wars Confirms Its First Black Panther Cast Member

One of the actors from Black Panther has confirmed they will be in Avengers: Secret Wars, the big Marvel movie coming out in 2027. Marvel Studios is currently working on the next major Avengers story, after finishing filming Avengers: Doomsday earlier this year, which will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026. Like with Infinity War and Endgame, this Avengers story will be told in two parts, and the cast for Secret Wars is starting to come together.

I just got some exciting news from Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri and stepped into the Black Panther role in Wakanda Forever. She was chatting with Screen Rant and initially mentioned wrapping up Avengers: Secret Wars, but quickly corrected herself, saying it was actually Avengers: Doomsday. The big takeaway? She’s definitely coming back as Shuri, and Doomsday is the next project she’s filming! It sounds like we can expect to see Shuri play a significant role in the upcoming Avengers film.

I honestly don’t know what’s next. We just wrapped up filming ‘Doomsday’ – I keep mixing that up with ‘Secret Wars’! – and it was fantastic. ‘Secret Wars’ is what I’m filming after this. But yeah, ‘Doomsday’ is done, and it was a really good experience.

The actress also suggested Shuri will play a significant role in the upcoming Avengers movies, saying she’s thrilled to see the character develop further in those films.

I’m incredibly honored, and this feels like a celebration of everything we achieved with the earlier movies. I always feel like I’m carrying my brother with me, and it means a lot to me. I’m also really excited to see how Shuri’s character develops in the upcoming films.

With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars being connected as one large story, it seemed likely many actors from the first film would return for the second. However, just like in Avengers 3 and 4, we can anticipate some characters won’t survive, meaning not everyone from Doomsday is guaranteed to appear in Secret Wars.

Letitia Wright has confirmed she will be in Avengers: Secret Wars, making her the first cast member from Black Panther to be announced for the film. Several Black Panther actors, including Wright as Shuri, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, and Winston Duke as M’Baku, are already part of Avengers: Doomsday. Wright’s participation suggests these actors might also appear in the sixth Avengers movie.

Over the past year, various reports and rumors have suggested that around a dozen actors will be in Avengers: Secret Wars. These include Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, and Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. Shuri will make her debut as the Black Panther alongside the Avengers in Avengers: Doomsday, taking on the mantle previously held by her brother, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman). While this is her first time officially fighting as the Black Panther with the team, Shuri and the people of Wakanda have assisted the Avengers before, notably during the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, meaning she’ll be joining familiar allies.

It’s still unclear which side Shuri will take as the Avengers split into different groups. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine revealed a new Avengers team, and Sam Wilson seems to be forming a competing one. However, all these teams will have to work together in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars movies if they hope to defeat Doctor Doom.
