Avengers duo explain their unexpected MCU return
As a devoted Marvel fan who grew up reading comics and eagerly awaiting each new film release, I am beyond thrilled to hear that Joe and Anthony Russo are returning to direct the upcoming Avengers movies, specifically “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.” Their previous work on “Infinity War” and “Endgame” was nothing short of phenomenal, and their return is a testament to their unparalleled ability to bring these iconic stories to life on the big screen.
As a gamer, I’d put it this way: The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, have surprised us fans by sharing their reasons for coming back to Marvel for the next Avengers films.
Over the weekend, it was officially announced that the duo responsible for blockbusters like “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” are set to return for upcoming films titled “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.” Interestingly, Robert Downey Jr is expected to reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for these movies, portraying Doctor Doom this time around.
After the announcement on Instagram, the Russos shared their thoughts on returning, confessing that the “Secret Wars” plotline rekindled their initial affection for comics.
They expressed their gratitude by saying, “You are the finest fans a team could ask for, and we’ve been missing your presence.” After wrapping up 2019’s “Endgame” production in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they thought their journey had reached its end.
“With every ounce of enthusiasm, affection, and creativity we possessed, we poured our hearts into the films ‘Winter Soldier,’ ‘Civil War,’ ‘Infinity War,’ and finally, ‘Endgame.’ This incredible journey took place over just a few short years.”
After exhausting all our creative resources and leaving our feelings bare, we felt drained. However, over time, we’ve discovered that there might be one tale left for us to explore, offering a fresh perspective.
“It’s the reason we fell in love with comic books in the first place. That story is Secret Wars.”
The directors expressed their eagerness to revisit the intricate universe and delve deeper into the multifaceted character of Victor Von Doom, while also recognizing the contributions of Downey Jr. in the process.
As a gamer, I can’t think of a better gaming partner than the fantastic Robert Downey Jr., they said. “Avengers, let’s team up on this adventure…”
