Avengers: Doomsday’s X-Men teaser has finally arrived, and it’s the best trailer yet

It’s been a big year for Marvel, with the release of Avengers: Doomsday. They’ve been sharing teasers for upcoming projects, and the latest one – a trailer for the X-Men – is getting fans excited. The trailer first appeared in theaters last week, but is now officially available online after quickly spreading through leaks.

The preview opens on the destroyed remains of the X-Mansion, at an unspecified time. It features a scene of Charles Xavier and Magneto playing chess, accompanied by a foreboding voiceover from Magneto. He states, “Death will come for everyone, of that I am certain. The real question isn’t whether you’re ready to die, but who you will be in your final moments.”

As a huge X-Men fan, I was already thrilled to see Cyclops and Jean Grey together on screen again after X-Men: Days of Future Past! But the teaser trailer ended with an even bigger jolt – Cyclops unleashing his optic blast, and then these huge, Sentinel-looking boots walking by in the background. It’s seriously giving me chills!

They don’t seem very happy, but fans will still be thrilled to see them wearing their iconic costumes. This also hints that this X-Men team in Avengers: Doomsday isn’t the same one from the original series – they might be from another universe, similar to the one briefly shown after the credits of The Marvels.

Patrick Stewart has already been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing a version of Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It’s been over ten years since Ian McKellen and James Marsden last played their X-Men characters, following the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It’s unclear which group of X-Men will be featured, though the world of X-Men ’97 is a possibility. We do know that along with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden, Alan Cumming (as Nightcrawler) and Rebecca Romijn (as Mystique) will be returning from the original X-Men series.

Channing Tatum will reprise his role as Gambit, after first appearing as the character in Deadpool & Wolverine.

The new X-Men teaser is the third trailer released for Avengers: Doomsday in the last three weeks. It follows previous teasers highlighting the returns of Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor in the upcoming film.

A fourth teaser is reportedly circulating in theaters, highlighting the people of Wakanda. A full trailer is expected to be released next month, possibly during the Super Bowl.

Right now, this is all just guessing, as Marvel hasn’t officially said anything. However, we expect the next teaser to be released online around 2pm next Tuesday, so be sure to check back then.

Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December.
