Everyone knows Chris Hemsworth will be back as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, the next movie in the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe series after a break since Endgame. Because he was one of the first characters featured in a preview, many fans thought this might be Thor’s last appearance as a hero. But it appears Doomsday is just the beginning of a new chapter for the actor in the MCU.
During an appearance on the SmartLess podcast (as reported by The Playlist), Chris Hemsworth discussed his future as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Doomsday. He didn’t reveal any details about the upcoming film, but confirmed he’s signed on for “a couple more” Marvel movies. It seems he and Marvel Studios are developing some “unique” plans to bring Thor back, and he’s expected to appear in Secret Wars, which is scheduled to start filming this year. However, Hemsworth hinted that he might even get another standalone Thor movie in the future.
I spoke with Kevin Feige, and he pointed out that audiences are now used to big surprises with this character. We’re already brainstorming some really unique ideas for what comes next, and we’re hoping to do something different and fresh.
More to come.
