Thor to join the new Avengers much sooner in Doomsday
Recent reports about Avengers: Doomsday indicate that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will appear with the Avengers sooner than many viewers are anticipating.
During a recent question-and-answer session with his supporters, industry insider Alex Perez was asked about Thor’s involvement in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. Specifically, someone wanted to know if Thor will be a central member of the team throughout the movie, like in Avengers: Age of Ultron, or if he’ll have a more separate storyline, similar to what happened in Avengers: Infinity War. Perez confirmed the character will initially have his own story arc, but will become involved with the main Avengers plot much earlier than he did in Avengers: Infinity War. According to the source, while his story begins as a smaller side plot, he’ll become a key part of the action well before the third act, unlike his late appearance in Infinity War.
Perez explained that the character will deal with intense emotional struggles in the new film, saying Thor “really suffers.” He pointed out that Thor consistently appears to have a lot at stake, and quoted Frank Ocean to illustrate this, asking, ‘What’s a God to someone who doesn’t believe?’
Excitement is building for the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently being finished by directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The film boasts a fantastic cast, including Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie taking on the role of Captain America, and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Chris Hemsworth will also return as Thor.
The movie is set to come out on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars planned for release on December 17, 2027.
