Audiences got their first glimpse of key characters from the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, including Franklin Richards. The image of Franklin showed him significantly older than he appeared in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and even older than his age in the post-credits scene of that film.
I’m so excited for the new Avengers movie! Production just finished, and now they’re moving into editing and special effects. While we haven’t gotten an official trailer yet, someone shared online that the crew received awesome gift bags themed after the movie – Avengers: Doomsday. Daniel Richtman posted pictures, and they included designs of all the characters who will be in it! It’s a great sneak peek at what’s to come, and I can’t wait to see them all in action.

At the bottom of the picture, Franklin Richards was visible. He was wearing a blue Fantastic Four uniform and still had his blonde, wavy hair, but he looked significantly older.

The end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps shows Franklin as a four-year-old. Promotional material for Doomsday suggests he’s older, so the movie might cover a period where he’s between five and seven years old.

In the Doomsday image, Franklin still has long, wavy hair, just like at the end of First Steps. However, his hair seems even longer and fuller in Doomsday, suggesting he’s aged a bit.

Throughout most of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Franklin is shown as a baby, since Sue Storm actually gives birth to him during the movie.

In First Steps, Franklin had very short hair and appeared like a baby. This means he’s noticeably older in Doomsday compared to his appearance in The Fantastic Four.
The after-credits scene from First Steps was actually filmed on the set of Avengers: Doomsday and directed by the same directors, Joe and Anthony Russo. This suggests we’ll likely see it again within Avengers: Doomsday. It really highlights how connected these movies are, and considering the time jump between First Steps and its after-credits scene, it wouldn’t be surprising if another time jump appears somewhere in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film.
I’m so excited for Avengers: Doomsday! It’s coming out December 18, 2025, and get this – Robert Downey Jr. is coming back to the MCU, but this time as Doctor Doom! It’s going to be the first new Avengers movie since Avengers: Endgame back in 2019, and I’ve been waiting for it ever since.
What Will Franklin Richards’ Avengers: Doomsday Role Be?

Everyone knows Franklin Richards will be a major character in Avengers: Doomsday. While details are still emerging from sources close to the production, it’s clear his part will be incredibly significant.
Because Franklin appeared with Doctor Doom in a scene after the credits of Fantastic Four: First Steps, many fans believe he’ll share screen time with Doom in the next movie.
A source familiar with the project claims that Doctor Doom plans to use Franklin Richards to repair damage caused by multiversal incursions. The goal is for Doom to be seen as the hero who saved the universe once everything is fixed.
Franklin Richards has a history in the comics of rebuilding universes, even those destroyed by incursions. It’s likely this power will be showcased directly in Avengers: Doomsday.
As a big fan, I’m really curious to see how long Franklin stays with Doom. They’ve aged him up a bit between First Steps and the upcoming Doomsday, so it seems like he could be a key part of Doom’s plans for a while, maybe even years! It’ll be interesting to see how their relationship develops over time.
