The extended trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is already breaking records after a highly anticipated release. It’s become Disney’s most-watched trailer ever, surpassing even previous superhero film trailers in terms of views.
The trailer for Doomsday unexpectedly appeared online before its planned debut at San Diego Comic-Con. This happened just as tickets went on sale for early showings in some U.S. locations.
The trailer’s popularity shows superhero movies are still incredibly popular – it reached 503 million views in just 24 hours, according to Variety. Even more impressively, the upcoming Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day (distributed by Sony) garnered an astounding 719 million views!
The trailer for the next Avengers movie gives us our first glimpse of Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom, although his face remains hidden. The trailer has a noticeably darker feel than previous ones, and Thor actually warns the other Avengers that this new threat is the scariest he’s ever encountered – which means it’s something to take very seriously.
The trailer shows quick shots of heroes fighting each other, like Mystique and Yelena Belova transforming and battling while Thor urges them to team up and focus on the bigger threat: Doctor Doom.
