Avengers Doomsday Is Apparently Omitting These 6 Marvel Heroes According to the MCU Actors Themselves

Despite a recent announcement of over 20 cast members for the new Marvel film, Avengers: Doomsday, several actors have stated they won’t be involved. This hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about surprise appearances, as Marvel is famous for unexpected cameos in its films, especially in Avengers 5.

Marvel actors have often talked about how the studio’s rules prevent them from sharing details about upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects. This usually means they have to avoid answering, or deny, questions about their roles or future plans. With the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, there’s a lot of speculation about surprise cameos, but many of the actors involved have indicated that several popular characters won’t be appearing.

These Marvel Stars Have Denied Being in Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Evans

Avengers: Endgame saw the end of Iron Man’s story, with Robert Downey Jr.’s character making the ultimate sacrifice, and Captain America, played by Chris Evans, traveling back in time to spend his later years with Peggy Carter. But Downey Jr. is returning as Doctor Doom in a new film, leading fans to speculate that Chris Evans might also reappear in future Marvel movies.

Rumors circulated in 2024 suggesting Chris Evans might reappear in Avengers: Doomsday, but it was unclear what his role would be. Evans quickly shut down the speculation in an interview with Esquire, stating, “That’s not true,” and confirming he’s “happily retired” from acting as Captain America for Marvel.

We won’t know if the actor is following the usual publicity plan for Marvel movies, or if he doesn’t actually appear in the film, until December 18, 2026.

Andrew Garfield

Andrew Garfield successfully avoided finding out spoilers about his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home – and it turned out the rumors were true! Now, he’s playing coy again, this time denying he’ll be in Avengers: Doomsday and the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars.

Although Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man returned to his own universe at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, rumors about the upcoming Doomsday and Secret Wars storylines led fans to believe he might reappear. However, Garfield has firmly stated to GQ that he will not be in the next Avengers movie, using emphatic language to confirm his decision.

Ryan Reynolds

After appearing in several films made by Fox Studios, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The huge success of Deadpool & Wolverine proved to Marvel Studios that Deadpool is a key character for their future plans.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported that Ryan Reynolds would return for Avengers: Doomsday, but Reynolds immediately denied the story during interviews, stating he hadn’t been on set.

Charlie Cox

Charlie Cox made a surprising appearance as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, hinting at his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe before his new series, Daredevil: Born Again, even premiered. With Daredevil now firmly established in the MCU, there’s been a lot of speculation that Cox might also appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

Recently, Brandon Davis from Phase Hero asked actor Charlie Cox if he appeared in Avengers: Doomsday. Cox immediately denied this, stating that he’s currently focused on the Daredevil: Born Again project.

Halle Berry

I was really hoping to see Halle Berry reprise her role as Storm in Avengers: Doomsday, especially with so many other familiar faces from the X-Men showing up. It seemed like a natural fit, and I was a little surprised when it didn’t happen!

I’m really hoping Storm shows up in the new movie, but Halle Berry actually told the Associated Press that probably won’t happen. When asked if she might be involved, she basically said we should stop expecting it! It’s a bummer, but she was pretty direct about it.

Benedict Cumberbatch

Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is one of the MCU’s most knowledgeable characters when it comes to the Multiverse. He’s been involved in key storylines exploring it, like in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Benedict Cumberbatch has repeatedly stated he won’t be in Avengers: Doomsday, but will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. He explains this is because his character doesn’t fit into the Doomsday storyline. Only time will tell if that’s the real reason, or if he’s intentionally misleading fans.
