The first four trailers for Avengers: Doomsday have been released, and it looks like Marvel is hiding more clues than we initially thought. While the movie isn’t due out until December 18, 2026, Marvel has already started a large promotional campaign.
Disney showed off four sneak peeks at the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday during screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. The first trailer revealed Chris Evans reprising his role as Captain America, and the second showed Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in a moment of prayer. A third preview introduced the return of the X-Men, originally from Fox, while the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer highlighted the roles of the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four.
The Russo Brothers, who directed the Avengers films, have hinted at a hidden message or deeper significance within the four ‘Doomsday’ trailers they released.
The Russo brothers, directors of the Avengers films, have revealed that the recent videos aren’t typical trailers or teasers. They describe them as short stories and hints, urging fans to “pay attention” to uncover the bigger picture.
Ever since the initial trailer for Avengers: Doomsday was released, fans have questioned if the footage actually came from the movie itself, or if it was designed to give a general idea of the story’s starting point. This skepticism is understandable, because Marvel Cinematic Universe trailers have a history of misleading viewers – either by omitting key details or outright showing things that don’t happen in the final cut.
As a huge movie fan, it’s become pretty clear that trailers aren’t always what they seem! Remember how they showed the Hulk in an Avengers: Infinity War trailer, but he wasn’t actually in that scene? Or how Spider-Man: No Way Home completely left out Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire from a shot where they were all together? The Russo Brothers are hinting that what we’re getting now isn’t really full trailers, but more like little pieces of the story – clues to get us excited, but not the whole picture.
The previews for Avengers: Doomsday seem to be hinting at future storylines for individual characters, laying the groundwork for their personal journeys rather than revealing the main plot of the movie. The newest trailer shows Namor and his people in Talokan, a place that’s completely dry. This could be a sign that the incursions – whatever those are – have begun.
As a huge movie fan, I’ve been thinking about what the Russo brothers hinted at – that we really need to pay attention to everything we’ve seen in the trailers. It got me wondering about that scene in Steve Rogers’ trailer where he carefully puts away his Captain America suit. And then, seeing his son… could it all be a misdirection? Maybe we’re looking at a past version of Steve, and that’s why he looks older and has a grown-up child in what everyone’s calling Avengers: Doomsday. The Russos have said the answers are hidden in plain sight, so I’m determined to figure it out!
