A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor hints at an exciting MCU reunion.
At the moment, production is underway for Marvel Studios’ film titled Avengers: Doomsday. This upcoming blockbuster is helmed by the Russo Brothers, who are also known as Joe and Anthony Russo. You can look forward to watching it next year. Following this, another installment, Avengers: Secret Wars, is set to release in 2027.
What is the new Avengers: Doomsday rumor?
Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus tweeted about Avengers: Doomsday’s storyline, stating that the destiny of the entire multiverse is uncertain due to tension between two major teams, as their leaders are still resolving a conflict over the ‘mantle.’ Furthermore, they’ve introduced an original character into the mix.
At present, there’s just speculation regarding the plot of Avengers: Doomsday, as Marvel hasn’t disclosed any formal details yet. So, it’s best to approach any information with caution.
If the rumor turns out to be true, “the OG” likely refers to the original Avengers, which includes Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow (who is deceased in the MCU but the multiverse’s rules might be different), and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. This team composition may have some variations. After all, anything can happen when it comes to the complexities of the multiverse.
It’s highly probable that the other two teams consist of the New Avengers, headed by Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (portrayed by Sebastian Stan), and a new Avengers group being assembled by Captain America, or Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie).
As a die-hard film fan, I’m excitedly looking forward to Avengers: Doomsday, knowing that only two original Avengers, Downey Jr. and Hemsworth, have been officially confirmed so far. However, there’s a buzz in the air suggesting Chris Evans might make an appearance, though the details of his involvement are still under wraps for now.
The film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” is set to hit U.S. movie theaters on December 18, 2026. Meanwhile, the sequel named “Avengers: Secret Wars” has been scheduled for release a year later, on December 17, 2027.
