Avatar: The Last Airbender casting characters for season 2, but popular Toph fancast misses out
As a gamer who grew up with the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation as Netflix prepares for the second season of their live-action remake. The casting call for characters like Long Feng, Earth King, Lady Ursa, and even newcomers like General Song, General Tran, and Bone Saw has certainly piqued my interest.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to hear that I’ll be diving back into the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender soon! Netflix is working on the second season of their live-action remake based on Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series. Though production hasn’t started yet as per Knight Edge Media, they’re still busy with casting calls. Characters like Long Feng and the Earth King, who hail from the renowned city of Ba Sing Se in the Earth Kingdom, have been mentioned in recent castings. With characters like these being brought to life, I can hardly wait for this epic story to unfold on our screens!
Netflix is considering the recruitment of Lady Ursa, the mother of Prince Zuko and Princess Azula, who had limited screen time in the original Last Airbender series. It could be intriguing to see how they develop her character further, possibly through flashbacks to Zuko or Azula’s childhood, or even by adapting elements from the comics about her.
Netflix is considering adding new characters to their cast, such as General Song, General Tran, and Bone Saw. It’s likely that Generals Song and Tran are high-ranking officials in Ba Sing Se, while Knight Edge Media speculates that Bone Saw could be a warrior we encounter when Aang and the gang visit an underground fight club in the Earth Kingdom – a place where they initially meet Toph, who becomes a significant character throughout the rest of the story.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but express my excitement about the upcoming casting for Toph, the fiery and spirited blind Earthbender from the original Last Airbender series. Netflix better nail it with their choice, or they risk incurring the wrath of fans who have grown to love this character dearly.
Initially, enthusiasts hoped that actress Diana Tsoy would land the role following an online leak of a concept video demonstrating her abilities. However, Tsoy herself recently shared on Instagram that she was unsuccessful in securing the part.
Tsoy added that she had absolute confidence in Netflix’s decision regarding the cast member, encouraging fans to back their selection for the role.
Did you know? The first season of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” was released recently this year, but since they haven’t started filming for season 2 as of now, we likely won’t catch it until 2026.
