Avatar: Fire and Ash’s Official Rating Surprises Nobody

The next installment in the popular Avatar series, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is coming out next month, and its rating has already been revealed online. The MPAA rating for Avatar 3 isn’t a surprise, according to a recent listing.

Avatar: Fire and Ash official rating revealed

According to Will Mavity from Next Best Picture, the upcoming movie Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to be rated PG-13 when it’s released in December.

According to a listing shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Mavity, Avatar 3 received the anticipated PG-13 rating, and the reason for that rating was also revealed.

The film received its rating because it contains strong and frequent violence, intense action scenes, blood, some strong language, mature themes, and brief suggestive content.

Like the previous Avatar movies, Avatar: Fire and Ash has been rated PG-13. However, the specific reasons given for this rating – “bloody images and thematic elements” – suggest that the next movie, Avatar 3, will likely have more intense action.

Following the events of Avatar: The Way of Water, the next film will be set a year after Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) join the Metkayina Clan. Jake will face challenges from a new Na’vi tribe called the Ash people, led by the aggressive Varang. The situation escalates when Varang unexpectedly teams up with Jake’s longtime enemy, Quaritch, in a fight for control of Pandora.

James Cameron’s Avatar 3 will star Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña alongside a talented cast including Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, David Thewlis, Giovanni Ribisi, and Kate Winslet. The movie, also known as ‘Fire and Ash,’ is currently planned for release on December 19, 2025.
