Originally, Tink was planned as a movie starring Reese Witherspoon, pitched in 2015. Like Maleficent and Cruella, it wasn’t a direct remake of a classic Disney animated film, but rather a new story exploring the backstory of a beloved character. In 2021, the project moved to Disney+ as a film, with Witherspoon remaining as a producer and Maria Melnik brought in to revise the script initially written by Victoria Strouse. However, when Yara Shahidi was cast as Tinker Bell in the 2023 live-action Peter Pan & Wendy, the future of the Tink project became uncertain. It’s currently unclear if Witherspoon is still involved now that the project may be a streaming series instead of a film.

Marvel Studios is finishing up work on Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The film is expected to hit US theaters later this year, and a follow-up movie, Avengers: Secret Wars, is planned for 2027.

Early reviews for Project Hail Mary are incredibly positive, with critics highlighting its stunning visuals and Ryan Gosling’s compelling performance. Even director Guillermo del Toro has expressed his enthusiasm online. The film is directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the team behind popular movies like The Lego Movie and 22 Jump Street.

William Church provided the voice and appearance for Flint Marko, but couldn’t film his scenes for the Spider-Man movie due to COVID-19 restrictions. This meant Sandman mostly appeared as sand throughout the film. Though his future in live-action movies is uncertain, fans can still enjoy Sandman in an animated series.
