Australia’s weirdest online feud fires up again: Abbie Chatfield hits back at Instafamous pets Peggy and Molly the Magpie’s owners after they called her an ‘attention w***e’

As a lifestyle expert and someone who closely follows the Australian social media scene, I have to say that I find the situation between Abbie Chatfield and the owners of Insta-famous pets Peggy and Molly the Magpie rather disappointing.

Abby Chatfield responded to the magpie pet owners’ accusation that she craves unwarranted attention, labeling her as an “attention seeker,” in a more natural and clear way: Abby Chatfield countered the allegations from Peggy and Molly the Magpies’ owners, denying that she excessively pursues unwarranted attention.

The Bachelor star, 29-year-old Chris Harrison, took to Instagram on Tuesday for a lengthy critique, accusing the owners, Juliette Wells and Reece Mortensen, of harassing him under an October 2023 post where he wore a revealing outfit.

I couldn’t help but get excited when I stumbled upon a comment on Abbie’s latest post. One of her devoted fans asked, “Abbie, don’t you recall the time Peggy and Molly’s animal account gave you a hard time?”

Abby promptly acknowledged her thoughts on the matter in an extended video, revealing she ponders over it every seven days.

She mentioned the incident with the staffy and magpie, and their unusual owners who taunted her about once a week for wearing a revealing top.

Abbie, who didn’t mind the animals receiving praise herself, explained to her audience how the controversy on social media had originated.

‘So, let’s take a trip down memory lane of the losers that own this account,’ Abbie said.

I remember that day vividly – the day I dared to express my fashion choices publicly. I had spent hours picking out the perfect top for a night out with friends. Feeling confident and excited, I decided to share a video of me trying it on, tagging my location at the local coffee shop.

After that remark from Peggy and Molly via their official account, I came across the comment which read, “Yes, search for ‘attention w**re’ to find a picture of Abbie Chatfield.” This was the trigger for my desire for retaliation.

Abby continued by admitting she wasn’t familiar with the two-person act mentioned, assuming the criticizing remark originated from a fake or mocking social media profile rather than Peggy and Molly’s official one.

After posting several videos regarding the incident, Mortensen asserted that their account had been compromised.

“That’s not something we represent. kindly look into it before voicing your opinion, it might be a case of mistaken identity,” he commented on Instagram regarding a dissatisfied follower. “Our account has been compromised.”

Abby responded by saying: “First and foremost, there is indeed research on the matter. It’s a screenshot from your verified account, which unfortunately reveals your past attempts to provoke me when you forgot to switch to your trolling account. You do have such an account, and I must admit it’s quite sad that you feel compelled to use it, but now it seems this behavior is even being turned into an animated series.”

After they made that post, I couldn’t help but find it amusing since it’s puzzling why someone would hack my account just to leave a comment on Abbie Chatfield’s post and respond to a comment labeling me as seeking attention.

I can’t help but roll my eyes when I hear people exclaiming, “Oh no, they’ve been hacked!” Can’t we all just take a deep breath and remain calm before jumping to conclusions? Let’s not spread panic unnecessarily.

Abbie’s fans were quick to comment on the lengthy clip.

‘Are you serious! Did they ever apologise to you? What an awful comment,’ one follower wrote.

‘I hope they address this ASAP on their page. Hacked haha. Come on. Do they think we’re idiots?’

“Continue reminding people of their responsibilities, Abbie,” suggested someone else. “Even magpies and Staffordshire terriers without the ability to judge wouldn’t pass judgment.”
