The upcoming season of Channel Nine’s The Bachelorette Australia is drawing near, and a significant reveal about the main lead has been leaked.
On Sunday, Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden, Australia’s inaugural Golden Bachelor, elegantly walked the Logies red carpet. There, he was queried by entertainment journalist Justin Hill about a question that has left everyone curious.
He inquired from Bear, who was elegantly dressed in a bowtie and tuxedo, if it would be possible for him to publicly disclose his age, or if it was something he preferred to keep private.
The celebrity glanced anxiously towards his press agent for approval, then confessed his true age.
‘I’m 61,’ he revealed, leaving Justin shocked.
‘Wow, you look incredible!’ the journalist said, gobsmacked.

Trying to understand why the young man looks so youthful, he inquired next: ‘Are you someone who has always led an active lifestyle?’
Bear jokingly remarked, ‘Although I’ve always been quite active, I often identify myself as Canadian, which means I’ve spent more than half of my life feeling chilly.’
Channel Nine officially announced the identity of Australia’s first Golden Bachelor last Friday.
The brand-new dating show commenced filming in February, as alluring elderly women jetted into Sydney from various parts of the nation, each aiming to capture the affection of Bear.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be the first-ever Golden Bachelor in Australia. The esteemed TV personality, Samantha Armytage, will grace us with her presence as our host for this exciting series.
In March, I had the thrill of witnessing the iconic “silver fox” on set, capturing scenes for our beloved television series. Moreover, I couldn’t help but marvel at the sight of him navigating a sleek, vintage Italian speedboat skillfully across Sydney Harbour. Quite an unforgettable experience!
Shortly afterward, his main actresses showed up on set, employing all manner of strategies in an attempt to charm the infrastructure engineer.
In the group of ladies, there was a well-known figure who might be familiar to some as a frequent face on television and radio – Bianca Dye.

Bianca, aged 51, gained widespread recognition during the 1990s as she took charge of the nationwide radio program The Nitemix Across Australia on 92.5 Gold FM, which she co-hosted alongside Bianca Dye.
Over the past few decades, I’ve had the privilege to work extensively within the industry, splitting my time between Sydney and Brisbane. Along the way, I even dabbled in television. Now, I’m thrilled to share that I host the breakfast show on Sea FM 90.9.
In the first season of The Golden Bachelor Australia, the contestants will vie for the affection of Bear, a three-time father who is also an influential figure in technology.
Bear currently works in Data Centre Management for Woolworths Group.
For many years, he’s worked in significant leadership positions at well-known corporations such as Macquarie Bank and the New South Wales Port Authority due to his extensive background.
However, despite the success in his career, it’s been shared by insiders at Daily Mail Australia that Bear’s life story carries a heavy weight of sorrow, as he’s now lost his spouse.
A confidant disclosed that Bear frequently voices concerns about his friends claiming he’s dating girls who are either too young or overly attractive for his age range.
It’s not surprising that he’s being considered for The Bachelor role, given our frequent suggestions that he would fit well on a reality TV show like Married at First Sight.
In contrast to shows like The Bachelor and The Bachelorette that focus on younger participants, The Golden Bachelor caters to an older demographic.
‘Bear is not your usual reality TV type,’ an insider told Daily Mail Australia.
‘He’s not only charismatic and smart but also rich in life experiences. He’s faced both love and loss, yet he’s eager to embrace new connections. I believe many women will find him captivating.’
