Critics are voicing their disapproval towards the SBS program, The Feed, following an unpalatable discussion that veered off course regarding societal norms surrounding the number of sexual partners a woman should ideally have.
In an episode called “Men Discussing Masculinity,” six gentlemen shared their thoughts on topics related to gender norms, domestic abuse, and male self-image.
However, the discussion rapidly deteriorated within just a few minutes after they posed the question regarding whether ‘the number of sexual partners one has relates to their masculinity,’ which left several viewers feeling disturbed.
As a devoted follower, I’d rephrase that sentence like this: Although many people believed that a man didn’t have to have multiple sexual partners to be considered masculine, some panel members didn’t hesitate to share their opinions about the number of sexual partners for women, often referring to it as their ‘body count’.
Clayton Harrop, who refers to himself as both a hypnotherapist and a performance coach, stated his belief that a woman with a significant number of past sexual partners has a vulnerability or weakness.
‘I don’t like the idea of a super high body count in women if I am completely honest,’ he said.
He expressed his personal opinion that a woman with fewer past relationships might have a more advantageous situation for herself and any future partners.
Clayton proudly declared that he had been intimate with numerous women, and asserted that his respect for women was not affected by this.
Instead, he admitted that he didn’t want 20 other men to be able to boast, “I’ve dated her too.”
He acknowledged his preference for keeping his romantic involvement with her private, so as not to let 20 other men claim they had been with her.
‘It’s a chink in the armour that directly affects every other area of our life,’ he said.
Dean Wells, known for his contentious debut on Married At First Sight back in 2018 and currently engaged to Aimee Woolley from Beauty and the Geek, confirmed that he finds women with multiple sexual partners less appealing.
He expressed that instead of analyzing it intellectually, he personally finds a woman who has had numerous relationships unappealing.
The episode lasted approximately 43 minutes and featured several heated discussions on contentious topics among the participants.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d like to point out that Clayton, Dean, and Chris Katelaris often lean towards a more traditional perspective on our panel discussions. Their online presence is particularly notable for its strong opinions, often revolving around gender-related matters.
In this discussion, Tarang Chawla, Mitch Wallis, and Jeff Kissubi – known figures – spoke for the more liberal, counter-argument side.
The episode has faced strong criticism online, with numerous individuals criticizing SBS for promoting contentious opinions as a means of inciting anger or controversy.
The women’s safety advocate, Mia Findlay, posted a video criticizing the network for not facilitating a fruitful discussion on male violence and misogyny.
She questioned on Instagram, “What was the purpose behind this episode, other than generating popularity, attracting clicks, and stirring up anger or controversy?
The statement emphasizes that there remains a persistent lack of sincerity when discussing the issue of men’s violence and misogyny in our nation through meaningful and well-informed dialogues.
Many people online shared her feelings, as one individual put it: “The strategy was effective. Collectively, women are outraged.
The other person remarked, ‘These men seem too mature to discuss body count. I believed that kind of conversation was typical for high school.’
‘Men still talking about “body count” as if that matters. It’s so gross,’ someone else added.
One person noted that since such repetitive arguments in the style of a red pill are likely to be widely accepted as truth, it leads them to withdraw from the world even further.”
“A comment stated that the widespread belief in repeated red-pill-like ideas makes one feel compelled to retreat further from society.
